How do thecompare to other teams in baseball. Do we have a shot to win some playoff games and perhaps make a run, kinda like our pseudo cinderella year a few back?

The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
Right now we are middle of the pack, but the thing we have working in our favor is that the Giants aren't running away with the division - injuries to Buster Posey and Pablo Sandoval have hurt them. Arizona is playing better than everyone expected and the Dodgers are playing worse than everyone expected. San Diego doesn't appear to be a factor this year.
We should be able to hang in the divisional race late into the year, but ultimately I like San Fran's chances better than ours because they have a much better pitching staff - especially with De La Rosa out for the year and Ubaldo not being able to get on track.
I think the Rockies need to make a move to get some pitching before the trade deadline to have any hope at contending. Problem is, every team is looking for pitching help around the deadline and there isn't that much of it out there.
I'm more concerned about Arizona than I am the Giants. You can have all the pitching in the world, and it doesn't make a difference if you cant get a run on the board. The Giants have been very lucky this year, and I don't think their string of winning games 2-1 and 3-2 is very sustainable.
U29, to answer your question, its been commonly noted that the Rockies have the most talent in the NL West. They just need to consistently play like it.

I disagree - I think the Giants' "forte" is winning 1 and 2 run games - their roster is built for it... Great starting pitching and a great closer in a pitcher friendly ballpark. Plus they are the defending champs, so they play with a confidence that the rest of the division does not.
Their pitching will keep them in the race all year long.
I think it's all just a formality to play for the right to lose to Philly in the NLCS.

I LOVE the idea of a power hitter with a good eye in the No. 1 hole. Love it.
I was talking to my Grandmother about this on the phone yesterday while we gave up that last game to the Yankees (Man I love Nicasio, I just hope he can get some endurance to go more than 5 innings), and we agree that Cook should be done.
Should we give Mortensen another look, or go after another arm?
