Great outing from DLR, 8 IP, 4H, 2 runs, but Hamels beat him by a run.
Smith lead off dbl in 9th, Cargo, Tulo, Giambi struck out. (2nd strike call on Jason was way outside)

Damn, totally forgot about the early start tonight. Apparently I picked a bad 1/2 game to miss.

http://mlb.mlb.com/index.jspIt took until his 2,054th game, but Jason Giambi has the first three-homer night of his career. He hit a three-run shot in the first and two-run blasts in the third and fifth.

Seeing reports that Franklin Morales traded to Red Sox for PTBN or cash.
Can Paulino be sent for some clam chowder?
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=310519122PHILADELPHIA -- With one mighty cut after another, Jason Giambi looked like the old Giambino.
Giambi became the second-oldest player to hit three homers in a game and tied his career high with seven RBIs, leading the Colorado Rockies past the Philadelphia Phillies 7-1 Thursday night.
"It's nice to contribute and get an opportunity to play," said Giambi, who started at first base because Todd Helton had a stiff back. "It's exciting, something you dream about."

http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/20...nklin-morales/From Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe comes word that the Red Sox are working on a trade for Rockies left-hander Franklin Morales.
Morales has displayed significant control problems this season out of the Rockies’ bullpen and is currently the owner of a poor 11/8 K/BB ratio. But he has allowed just six runs in 14 innings for a 3.86 ERA and the Red Sox may be thinking that they can reel in his command issues. He has the ability to start as well, which is probably intriguing for a team missing Daisuke Matsuzaka and dealing with Josh Beckett‘s sudden neck stiffness.
The 25-year-old Morales has posted a 4.83 career ERA over four-plus major league seasons.
Abraham has no other details at this time and no other news outlet is providing information.
UPDATE: The trade is now official, according to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal. The Red Sox will receive Morales for a player to be named later or future cash considerations. Hideki Okajima has been designated for assignment to clear a spot on Boston’s roster.

I know, I was saying at work today that I would have cut bait on Giambi 2 weeks ago and that's why Jim Tracy is a much better manager than I could ever hope to be.
I still think Stewart needs a change of scenery to find his confidence. Maybe we bring him up at the end of the year when the roster expands, but I don't see him coming up before then unless someone gets hurt.
Two blown saves? Really?
