AWESOME!!!! 7-1 on this road trip. 10-2 record!!!...Watched part of the first game at the restaurant during lunch, then caught the close of game 2 on the radio driving home. This is fantastic. Now if the Nuggets can get by OK City, things will really be sweet around here.

I love Chacin. If Ubaldo's only issue really was a split cuticle, and JDLR continues to deal, we will have a rotation that rivals Philly and the Gnats (however, I think the Giants rotation is overrated, with Zeto showing a sharp decline). If Rogers can be the Rogers he was against Pittsburgh, Hammel will be our only weak link in the rotation (and he is a good pitcher if not a head case), and Cook will be trade bait when he gets healthy.

I don't even miss football right now.

Anybody else get very nervous every time Street takes the mound? I know he was 11 for 11 before tonight but it's always drama with him and 4 HRs given up already.

This dude scares the Hell out of me if we need him in a tight spot late in the season.

I have always hated the idea of having a finesse closer. Especially in Colorado.

I have very little faith in Street to deliver in crunch time.

Closers toe a fine line, few are shut down long career guys while most blow plenty of saves. Fuentes was the worst, have so much more confidence in Street then Fuentes.

I get the argument against Street. On the flip side you have Lindstrom that fires darts but control not so much.

My issue not so much the pen, 11/11 until last night its the offense not gettng anything done. Tulo gets hot, Cargo still hasn't but the rest of the line up has to do something.

Don't have a good feeling about this series in San Fran, need to string together hits, get 2 out hits, Giants rotation is legit.

I'm comfortable with Street getting the ball to close the game. I also felt that he was due to blow a save when he got the ball last night. The Rox shouldn't have been in that position to begin with. I was uncomfortable with that game last night when Tulo popped out to the infield with the bases loaded at the end of the first. We should have won that game 10-2 last night.

As Drew Goodman said, after Huston gave up those 2 homeruns, Drew said that is not what Tracy would concentrate on in his post game talk, as the Rockies had many chances to blow the game wide open.

Default Rock Talk after Colorado’s bitter series loss to D-backs

    from article

PHOENIX — This one left a mark. The Diamondbacks begged the Rockies to take the series, to head to San Francisco with a five-game lead in the National League West. And Colorado re-gifted it.

Closer Huston Street is an easy target after the 3-2, 11-inning loss. The Diamondbacks’ Gerardo Parra and Chris Young homered off him in the ninth to send the game into extra innings. It represented his first blown save in 12 attempts.

Rockies closer Huston Street was not a happy man after serving up two homers in the bottom of the ninth Thursday night..

“You never expect it to happen. But it did. I can’t change it,” said Street, who allowed homers on a sinker and a slider that caught too much of the plate. “I have to focus on tomorrow. It’s just one game. You have to move on.”

Street, whose last blown save was Sept. 19, had many accomplices in the loss. Matt Belisle allowed the game-winning bloop single to Justin Upton, who admitted that he thought the ball was going to fall when he noticed how deep the Rockies’ outfielders were playing. But the Rockies’ lineup deserves just as much blame as the bullpen

“Our situational hitting was bad,” manager Jim Tracy said. “To keep getting turned away as many times as we did, we asked for this.”

2 run 8th inning lead in San Fran that's a lead the pen has to hold and close out. Betancourt blows lead, Paulino gives up walk off.

That's how you drop in the standings quickly.

    Default Well, It's Official

This team couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat. These guys simply cannot swing the bat.

You wonder how this team got out to the division lead watching them the last week. Haven't hit all season outside of Tulos hot streak.

What are you talking about. Iannetta is hitting pretty well, and Cargo had been hitting well again. Having Wiggington out of the lineup hurts us right now, and San Francisco's gimmicky ballpark has not helped our cause. The BABIP Dragon has not been kind to us this past week. I think a series at home against the Mets will be just what the doctor ordered.

I am talking about a team that is hitting .220 with RISP. How many guys are getting on in front of Ianetta for all his hits.

Its not just a series in San Fran, I know its a pitchers park but its been a struggle hitting this year. Tracy has talked about it.

Helton is doing exactly what you want from him at this point.

It's a team issue, pen has not helped much either lately.
