This is bad.
These are the Rockies of 4 years ago. The pitching sucks and when the pitching doesn't suck we can't hit. Not a good combo. Need to see more production out of the middle of the lineup.
This team sucks.
Finally a win - 4 - 0 - Solution = Ubaldo must pitch every game![]()

They just finished talking to Ubaldo and he said it was a heat cramp in his leg.

HOUSTON -- Dominant Rockies right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez showed Thursday night he's able and willing to pitch through obstacles as long as he is allowed.
An ill-fated fielding decision by third baseman Ian Stewart created the only hit against Jimenez in seven innings -- before he left with discomfort in his left leg -- as the Rockies ended a losing streak at three games with a 4-0 victory over the Astros at Minute Maid Park.
In a scary moment, Jimenez suffered what appeared to be tightness in his left leg while running down the first-base line when Astros third baseman Pedro Feliz booted the ball for an error in the top of the seventh.
Manager Jim Tracy and head athletic trainer Keith Dugger visited with him then, and they came to the mound after he worked Lance Berkman into a fly ball to open the seventh. Jimenez elected to stay in the game and forced Carlos Lee into a grounder and struck out Hunter Pence. Matt Belisle replaced him in the eighth.
Jimenez (8-1) moved into the lead in the Majors in wins, and he lowered his Majors-leading ERA to 0.99.
Jimenez struck out four, forced 14 groundouts and walked two while outpitching Astros ace Roy Oswalt (2-6), who gave up Troy Tulowitzki's three-run homer in the first inning but gave up three hits in six innings.
Against Astros reliever Gustavo Chacin in the eighth, Todd Helton doubled and Tulowitzki singled before Brad Hawpe added an RBI double.

Really it hasn't been starting pitching that is the problem. We just haven't been able to get guys in when we have runners in scoring position. How many times this season have we had the bases loaded with no outs and end up with no runs for the inning?

He is pitching lights out. He would be 9-0 if we weren't in such a hitting slump.
Really my post wasn't an attack of your opinion, just a show of my frustration. With the way our pitching has been, we should have a record similar to Tampa's. There are rumors that we may get Louis Castillo from the Mets, or find someone to replace Barmes on 2B.
And to keep things in perspective, we were doing just as bad this time last year and in 2007.

Iannetta is stuck in the Minors right now because of Olivo, and I really like Olivo right now. Not only does he have a decent bat, and calls a good game, but he has the arm I wish Torrialba had. I really think opposing base stealing is what killed us in the playoffs last year. Ianetta may be trade bait for us. Boston is licking their chops right now waiting for us to make him available.
As far as EYJr goes, I think he is being groomed for LF. He is a great 2nd baseman, but his speed is more useful to us in LF where I think we have been letting a too many bloops get us into trouble.
This is all speculation mind you. I never thought I would be this in to baseball ever. But I'm learning a lot hanging out over at http://www.purplerow.com

The Rox have had quite a few runs scored 'against' the past week or so...
...need to get that fixed.
True - Drew Goodman made the comment tonight that the only time the Rockies are winning is when Ubaldo is pitching - holding the other team to no, or very few runs. It also does not help when the Rockies are not getting hits on a consistent basis. Heck of a mess right now![]()
