Glad to hear his family members are safe as well.
Reason #203 why I will not visit South America..
My wife is from Colombia...She tells me all sorts of horrible nightmare-ish stories of the guerrillas, while she lived and grew up there...Unfortunetly South America is a horrible place to live if you are well off financially, and not a part of the Cartel. It is almost inevitable to be threatened or robbed one way or another. Usually when you buy something new, and word gets out...It usually gets stolen within a week...
Thankfully Colombia now has a powerful/courageous president in Uribe....Previous presidents were either working with the Guerrillas, or were assassinated shortly after taking office. Uribe is slowly but surely putting an end to the violence and corruption.
I am not very sure about Venezuela though...Their president is an evil, oil hungry mother effer, who hates the USA...
I am glad Yorvit's family is safe at home now...Just sad to hear about hostage situations, and kidnappings. Glad he's safe and sound.
I don't mean to be a jerk, but why didn't Yorvit bring his family here to begin with?
Maybe this is the American Pride in me, but when you get the shot, you bring your shit here.
I do like the future potential of a Fowler/Gonzalez OF...
ST. LOUIS -- The Colorado Rockies recalled outfielder Carlos Gonzalez from Triple-A Colorado Springs, but had to scratch him from the lineup because he arrived only an hour before the start of their game against the Cardinals.
Gonzalez, who leads all minor leaguers with 59 RBIs in 48 games, was slated to bat seventh Friday night. He was replaced by Seth Smith.
"He's done what we've asked him to do, probably done that and well beyond that," manager Jim Tracy said. "So we have to be proactive and get him up here and have him be playing."
The Rockies also activated right-handed reliever Matt Daley from the 15-day disabled list. Daley missed 17 games with a left foot sprain after stepping on a bat while backing up a throw to home plate.
To make room, the Rockies optioned outfielder Matt Murton to Triple-A Colorado Springs and designated right-hander Jason Grilli for assignment.
The 23-year-old Gonzalez was acquired from Oakland in the Matt Holliday trade and was batting .339 with 10 homers in 48 games.
Murton hit .267 with one homer and six RBIs in 45 at-bats. Grilli was 0-1 with a 6.05 ERA and one save in 22 relief appearances.

Ian Stewart reminds me of Alfonso Soriano. Can get in nice slumps but when he is on they are flying out of the park.
Cook has also been on a roll in his last few starts as well. Figures that I sit Cook on my fantasy team today...
Another Rockies win - 7 - 2 -4th win in row

ST. LOUIS — Ubaldo Jimenez is painfully polite in interviews. He was raised, he says, to be nice to everyone.
Just don't interrupt him when he's working. The guy you see in the clubhouse or at the corner restaurant isn't the one on the mound.
"I don't recognize myself in the pictures. It's like I become a monster," said Jimenez of his evil facial expressions.
On a rain-splattered Sunday, Jimenez devoured the Cardinals for brunch in a convincing 7-2 victory at Busch Stadium.
Colorado's season-best fourth consecutive win came with many notable distinctions, not the least of which were Jimenez's season-best nine strikeouts.
"He gets that look, like 'bring it on,' " catcher Paul Phillips said. "I love it."
What made this outing special is that it wasn't just all power and glower. Jimenez blended in a little professor. The Cardinals came out hacking in the first inning, so aggressive on Jimenez's fastball that he admitted, "they didn't let me breathe." He made a critical adjustment after talking with Phillips, shrewdly starting hitters off with more curveballs.
This was no accident. Jimenez is evolving as a pitcher, something he credits, in part, to his idol Pedro Martinez. He talks to the Dominican legend after nearly every start.
"He watches the tapes of my games and gives me advice," Jimenez said.
After Albert Pujols' bizarre two-RBI sacrifice fly in the first — left fielder Carlos Gonzalez crashed into the wall to record the out — Jimenez retired 16 straight. He ultimately worked eight innings, surrendering just two runs.
"What I witnessed today was a young man who showed growth well beyond his years," manager Jim Tracy said. "He was tremendous."
Jimenez's effort, if only barely, outshone the boiling offense. In a phrase never heard about a Rockies' team on the road, a local sportscaster praised the Cardinals for "limiting Colorado to seven runs."
Every starter had a hit except Garrett Atkins. His playing time is likely to shrink beginning today with Ian Stewart taking over at third base and Todd Helton returning to first after a rest day for his back.
Phillips, the starter until Chris Iannetta returns from the disabled list Tuesday, went 4-for-5 with his first home run since 2006. He drove in three of the Rockies' runs. And Troy Tulowitzki rapped out two hits with runners in scoring position after entering the game 3-for-41 in those situations.
"It's a start, but I have to keep it going," said Tulowitzki, whose Rockies have outscored opponents 38-10 during the win streak.
Even Jimenez singled, but he's never going to impress anyone with the bat. He's special on the mound, where fangs replace his toothy smile.
"The guy is an absolute bulldog," Phillips said. "You know how it hard it is to hit 99 miles per hour? He could be stubborn with it, but instead he mixes in that breaking ball. He's not messing around."
