Corpas/Street should be good if the Rocks can get to the 8th with leads.

Line up is indeed very interesting. Not alot of speed, going to see alot of hit and runs as the Rockies have worked on it all spring. Is power 1-8, Fowler could be quit the spark plug in the back pocket...

Great to see Helton back on the field!
Well, no matter how you paint it, Cook is not an ace. Heck, his PECOTA comparables are 1998 Scott Erickson, 1972 Mel Stottlemyre and 2008 Jake Westbrook.

That's an innings eater that has quite a few decisions, because he works into games and gives up about four runs an appearance. It's not a bad thing. All teams need that. But when he's starting opening day, it's not a good sign.

I agree that he is not a stud up there with the top pitchers, he has a chance to prove that he is more then your normal innings eater this year after being healthy and completly over the blood clot problem; posted a 16-9 record last year, 3.96 ERA. Might not light everyones fire but is pretty much perfect for for the Rockies.

Hate being stuck at work, hopefully I can catch a few innings when I get out of here in a bit.

He's 30. He toiled as a AAAA pitcher most of his 20s, and then in his 27-29 seasons (2006-2008) he became a staple in the rotation, and in those three seasons, he's 33-31, averaging 196 2/3 innnings with an ERA of 4.10 and a WHIP of 1.36.

Maybe a little better than an "innings eater," but he is what he is.

Maybe he did turn a corner and will repeat his 2008 performance, and that will be more the norm, but at 30, it's more likely that he's the pitcher he was as an average over the last three seasons, rather than a turning the corner type of player, who is now a No. 2 in the rotation.

    I appreciate the banter...thanx

Just gotta hang on... certainly won't be easy. A larger lead would be nice, though...

If he can ever cut down on the walks he'll be untouchable...

If Jimenez could ever get consistent enough to pitch like this maybe 7 times out of 10 starts, the Rocks would have the envy of the league. Jim's a stud.

Buff's right...he's still got three walks tonight...so he's really got to cut down on that, but that fastball-curveball combo, when its on, might be the best in the NL West.

    Dan Haren's dealing, though too...one bad pitch, and that's about it...7 IP, 3 H, 1 R (Tulo's Homer), 9 Ks...

    He's got the stuff...

Fastball that tails in on right-handed hitters, looping curve and hard slider....work on that change a little...and DAMN!

That was a great inning...2 Ks and a liner at Tulo...can't pitch any better than that.

    Should leave him in...
