Friday, June 13 at 7:46 PM
RHP Jason Hirsh was removed from the 60-day disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs, according to MLB.com. In a corresponding move, the Rockies outrighted OF Cory Sullivan to Coloardo Springs, removing him from the 40-man roster to make room for Hirsh.
The Rockies did not announce the moves, but they were listed on the Major League Baseball transactions list supplied to MLB.com.
Sullivan had to clear waivers to be outrighted, but with a $1 million salary, Sullivan was not of interst to the 29 other major-league teams.
The move with Hirsh will provide a minimal financial break for the Rockies -- $1,138 a day while Hirsh is in the minor leagues. More than that, however, it will keep Hirsh was gaining major-league service time while he is on the disabled list.
Hirsh is currently working his way back into shape after suffering a strained right rotator cuff in spring training. He had made three starts in his rehab assignment and was expected to make at least three more. He pitched only two innings during spring training.
