Thread: Claim Your 2010 Draft Sleepers

Default Claim Your 2010 Draft Sleepers

One of my favorite things to do during the offseason is find the draft sleepers. Last season I had 2. Louis Vasquez, who started all 14 games that he was healthy for the Chargers at RG. My other was Jarron Gilbert, who by the time the combine was over had lost his sleeper status and did absolutely nothing for the Bears this season. Both were 3rd round picks. Who do you have this year? I'm still researching mine, but feel free to discuss yours in this thread. List as many as you want, but name your top 1 or 2.

Anthony Dixon, RB, Mississippi State. He will start for someone this year or at least get 50% of the carries somewhere.

He was first team all SEC and led the SEC in rushing in 2009. I wouldnt call him a sleeper but I do think he will be a very good player. On a side note, he is coming into the draft with a DUI already under his belt, so I wouldn't look for him to be very high on the Broncos board.

Linval Joseph DT from East Carolina. I really hope the Broncos look at him.

Sleeper as in I don't think he'll be a first rounder and maybe not even second. That, and not too many people nationally know anything about anyone from Mississippi State.

And I don't want the Broncos to pick him just because we have more pressing needs than RB but I do hope he does well in the NFL.

As for the DUI, it was the only trouble I remember him getting into in college so I don't think it will be a trend with him.

    Keiland Williams-RB-LSU- 5'11 226 and fast. --4.3 to 4.4 speed.

Played behind charles scott, but imo can be better.

I would love to see this guy and knowshon on our team. This is my sleeper. He is a poor mans JOn stewart (my fav RB)

My other sleepers in my sig, are no longer sleepers after their senior bowl moments, like kyle wilson.

    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I'm going to go with Kentucky DT Corey Peters. He caught my eye when he was continiously kicking South Carolina's OG and C ass. Constantly getting in the backfeild. He too was a 1st Team All-SEC (Coaches poll) performer, but he's projected to go around the 6th and 7th round. That could make him a prime sleeper candidate.

He's quietly flew under the radar all season due to all the exposure Terrence Cody and Dan Williams have been getting. 6'3, 295 just a really good football player IMO. Again, really quick off the snap. I'm not sure if he's strong enough to play NT, he's probably better suited to play DE in a 3-4.

Pryor was my sleeper last year, picked by NE in the 7th. A absolute steal and outperformed Ron Brace enough that Pryor was the guy coaches chose to dress on Sunday and spell Vince Wilfolk. Pryor is the better player between him and Peters, but Corey is'nt that far off. His game is just diffrent, and Pryor is a stout 6'1 310.

And watch for another Kentucky player LB Samuel Maxwell. Many considered him the best player on that defense. Probably considered more of a sleeper than Peters because of his LB position. He's had some injury issues, but another really good football player.

Marcus Easley, WR - CT, 6'2" 215, 40 Time: 4.40 - 40 Low: 4.34 - 40 High: 4.54. He was a walk on who rose up the depth chart and was the top receiver for the Huskies. Even with lousy QB play he produced. I would love him on the Broncos and he fits the mold of a McD player, hard working kid who is always fighting for his spot on the roster. Whenever he has been challenged at UConn, he responded and the team was always better for it.

Williams never lived up to his expectations at LSU; very inconsistent and never seemed to totally get it.

I've talked about this guy in a couple other threads but Montarrio Hardesty is the most NFL ready RB in this draft class... Hellaciously excellent sleeper pick in rounds 4-6.

    Charles Scott, LSU
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 234.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
    Projected Round (2010): 5-6.

Had a down year do to injury but when healthy he is a beast to contend with.

    Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 229.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
    Projected Round (2010): 4-5.

Honestly, i dont know much about this guy. And ive only seen him play once
and that was the senior bowl. However, the guy is scary accurate and looks
very comfortable and confident in the pocket. Im just calling it now, i want to
    draft this guy.

Alex Carrington was my sleeper for awhile, but it looks like he rises up the charts daily. Some people actually consider him an early 2nd round pick now. So...

John Skelton, QB, Fordham - Think Flacco meets Big Ben
Tony Moeaki, TE, Iowa - If not for injury issues, he'd be drafted much higher
Barry Church, S, Toledo - If Taylor Mays could cover anyone, his name would be Barry Church

Clifton Geathers could be another sleeper. Kind of a hothead who may have some off-the-feild concerns (arrested in Aug. 09') though. As smilin' mentioned in one of his mock drafts, he's a bit raw but has a ton of upside. Solid frame at 6'8 281 with a nice combination of speed and strength but does'nt always play like it. If he can stay out of trouble and stay motivated he's got the potential and ability to be a solid player.

He cracked a bone near his eye socket in a fight before the season started that caused him to have double vision. He was suspended for the first game of the season due to the fight and the injury caused him to lose his starter position for the first half of the season. Played sparingly during those games in the rotation at DE and DT. Regained his starter role back against Bama and during the final 6 games he had 23tkls, 7 for a loss, and 3.5 sacks. I would have loved to had seen what he could have done had he not got smacked by the stupid stick and the unfortunate injury.
