Default Former Clemson University star Gaines Adams dead at 26

Former Clemson University football star Gaines Adams, 26, died this morning after he was taken to the Emergency Room at Self Regional in Greenwood, County Coroner James T. Coursey said.

Adams, a defensive end, was the fourth player chosen in the 2007 National Football League draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was traded from Tampa Bay to the Chicago Bears in October.
An autopsy will be performed today by a forensic pathologist in Anderson County, Coursey said.

There is no cause of death yet, the autopsy is scheduled for today. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. Not to sound too insensitive, but the Bears not only lost a player but a second round pick as well.

Way to be classy. How would you have felt if a fan of another team said that about Darrent?

Bummer? You clearly conveyed a lack of respect in your choice of words. You went beyond "stating a fact". It's inflammatory.

If you were to say about Darrent Williams "the Broncos gave up a 2nd round pick for a dead man. Bummer." I know you'd be crucified here. Rightfully so.

ok whatever, go remove whatever happens to be protruding from your forthright point of contact because it's obvious you're just trying to bait me into exploding, well it's not gonna work.

bummer is just my way of saying sorry he's gone. if that offends you, too ******* bad.

That is disgusting. 26 years old-whole life ahead of him. Now gone, leaving behind a family. how does a draft pick measure up to that? It doesn't.

    Way to troll.

RIP, I can certainly feel for Bears fans after losing one of our own. This was bound to happen to somebody, human beings just aren't meant to be 300+ pound monsters. Linemen are asked to sacrifice their bodies to play the sport, putting on all that weight, it just isn't natural. I'm sorry that it happened to Gaines Adams.

    Default Hey mt

Go repeat that to Coach Stock....his Clemson recruiter and now Middle Tenn Coach. You are a huge POS. There are many of us that went through 5 wonderful years with Gaines. There are many, many people very sorrowful tonight. He was a straight-up person...that cared about everyone else more than himself. Clemson University has lost a great, great alumnus.....at age 26. You should be ashamed.
