Though He slay me, I will trust in Him . . . (Job 13:15)
he looked good when he was first inserted into the starting lineup, but IMO he got exposed down the stretch after teams had some film on him-- a good example was the houston game, where he was flat-out terrible. . . he has a good size/speed ratio and a lot of athletic ability, but after three years in the league he still looks pretty raw. . . maybe someone will make an offer, but i think it's an acceptable risk since we have the option of matching if it happens. . . . we'll see i guess. . . .
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
IMO he is worth more then a 7th round pick.. That being said, it's not like all anyone has to do is say, will take him and we lose him. We have the chance to match the offer before we lose him. This way we don't have to work a contract out with him. We can let someone else make an offer and determine his worth. If no one offers anything for him we can then say, See you have little to no value and you are only worth this much.
We will get him a lot cheaper this way. If a team offers a lot for him we then will have to either match it or lose him. They want offers to come in, that's why they went with the 7th
