Looks to me as if we're ok for a few years on these guys...
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Shanahan doesn't extend rookie contracts, or something to that affect.

Next year maybe the whole Idea of rookie contract are to keep the expenses down.. DO I want them to be redone down the road these guys are keepers.
No sense in setting precedent on them it has been Mikey's custom to redo them in their last year..

These 3 guys are going nowhere. Jay-Brandon-Scheff will be together for a long, long time. Meanwhile, Doom will stay a Broncos also. Just a feeling.

It would be shocking, but I hope all 3 of these guys are Broncos 5 years from now.

They will get paid when the time is right.

Now is not the right time.

Why pay them millions now when you'll have to in two or three years?

    Agreed..

It is not like they are not making far more money than they could in the real world as a communications major. Or basket weaving..

In most cases they got a decent to good signing bonus up front if invested wisely instead of being blown on clothes or a fancy car.. well we all know that it is already gone..

Dumervil will be an interesting situation. He will be able to get a lot of money from some team, but do we want to break the bank for Dumervil, who will likely only play in situational roles once our dline is settled?

Wouldn't surprise me at all if Dumervil gets a big contract with another team.

Unless he can become an every down player and that could happen if we seriusly address the DT and LB issues, given time he could be a stud out there..
But I will not hold my breath..

if i had a choice on which of the 3 names you mentioned it would be marshall. he deserves an extension before sheff and elvis. but it would be good for the team if they can just sit tight and play out their rookie contracts without getting disgruntled.

id just hate to see us actually end up paying way more if we wait when their contracts end. right now it would be cheaper in the long run and easier on the cap. then we will have to sign all 3 to huge contracts all the same year.

True, but, I'd rather wait to see if he can stay healthy and do it all over again. Plus, if we redo the deal now, and it is a decent salary, then he repeats his success with a couple more 1400 yard 9+ TD seasons, then there might be trouble. I don't want to see a hold out, or Marshall demanding more money. From the looks of it, Marshall likes Denver, Cutler, and the head coach. We like Marshall too, and so does Cutler and Shanahan. Like I said, I dont think your going to see Marshall going anywhere. This could be the start of another Peyton/Harrison, relationship.

Throw in Scheff and the fact all three of these guys are working together, it only builds chemistry. Interestingly enough, Bennett from Vandy is working out with them too. I like what I see.
