In Neko's return we give a quick review of her time away as well as our relaxing and chill night out checking out Blackwater Holylight out of Portland, Oregon.

I give my review of the werewolf movie from 2020 called "The Wolf of Snow Hollow". Was it decent? Did i feel that the material was original and did the werewolf look good? Things that make you say hmmmmm.

And finally, back into our Retro Dvd Movie Vault selection i choose 2013's "Metalhead" which i had been wanting to really talk about a lot since first seeing it a while back. What did Neko think of it? Tune in to find out as we break it down from top to bottom.

In our return episode following MDF 22' Neko and i get back to viewing the new Obi-Wan series on Disney+. The Mandalorian kicked off the new Star Wars content well, Boba Fett was a bit lukewarm so find out how Obi-Wan stacks up right now.

In this episode Neko and I talk about the issues surrounding violence against women both in isolation and in cults. We dive into a couple of documentaries dealing with both situations with "Undercurrent: The Disappearance of Kim Wall" and "Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey".

We also talk about the other side of that when men become the victims as we touch more on the Depp/Heard verdict and the aftermath of it. We give our review for the first 3 episodes of "The Boys" season 3 and discuss just how outlandish it continues to be.

And finally in our Retro Dvd Movie Vault pick i select "Creature from the Black Lagoon" as i have not seen it since i was a child. But what makes this film so interesting is its influence on horror films today. Tune and hear some of the discussion we have on this 1954 classic.

Special Thanks to Inverse Records, Grand Sounds Promotion, Hardlife Promotions, Against PR, Tarja PR, and Angels PR for selected tracks this week.

In this episode we review "Mad God" by Phil Tippett where this stop motion film was 30 years in the making. When watching this its easy to see how influenced he was by the great Ray Harryhausen.

We also revisit a movie back in the golden age of creature features with the 1976 classic "Food of the Gods". Neko had never seen it but had a blast with it despite the movie not aging very well.

And in our Retro Dvd Movie Vault pick Neko selects "Army of Darkness" starring Bruce Campbell and directed by Sam Raimi. We not only dive into Raimi's career as a director but also take a look at the 2013 remake of "Evil Dead" which we both find to be better than the original. We also realize just how influential "Army of Darkness" was to the work that Raimi put in for future projects on tv.

What’s up #metalhorde! Welcome to #MetalTavernRadio episode 172 of the #HordesofChaos. While we generally avoid political debate and topics, we had to address the recent undoing of #RoeVsWade. Hear our initial reactions and be sure to see our YouTube video where we discuss it in more detail.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSUNUil3oLo&t=7s

Besides bringing you the #metal music, we love discussing the culture behind metal and being a metalhead in general. That’s why reading this article on Loudwire piqued our interest. “Not Metal Enough- A Phycological Perspective on Gatekeeping” reveals how the metal community is facing our own internal gatekeeping. Social media exacerbated the gatekeeping by allowing an anonymous face behind the keyboard. But really, most people are not the same in person as they are online, and a lot of people have crappy social skills. Written by Steve Byrne a licensed psychologist and a fan of extreme music for 25 years he examines the attitudes of the fanbase and basically concludes, as we agreed, that times have changed even within the extreme metal community. Just be patient with each other, enjoy new and old music, and don’t be an #*******.

Finally, this week in the #retrodvdvault we decided to go two for one. We talk the original #JurassicPark and the “Jurassic Party” we attended to celebrate the release of Jurassic World: Dominion. #Nostalgia is everywhere right now with movies including #TopGun with Top Gun- Maverick. There are lots of nostalgia moments in the new Jurassic World and overall, we felt this movie was the most enjoyable out of the newest three.

How is the #metalhorde this week! Join us for episode 173 of the #hordesofchaos on #metaltavernradio when we finally get to hear DJ Neko’s (IG @nekocatfreak) opinion on two of the most popular movies so far this year. #TheBatman and #DrStrange and the Multiverse of Madness. I know she is a little late to the party, but we won’t give her any slack.

Sticking with some #Marvel discussions, we found it interesting the #MsMarvel’s viewership was the lowest of any MCU series, but one of the highest rated. Are we oversaturated with Marvel characters? Are we losing interest in tertiary characters? Do we not empathize with them as we did when the #MCU began?
Check out one of the articles about the Ms. Marvel TV show and let us know your thoughts

    https://gamerant.com/ms-marvel-lowest-viewership-disney-plus-mcu-shows/

We finally get to wrap up the #ObiWanKenobi series on Disney +. The DJ’s have a little nerd off on their favorite #StarWars moments over the years and give their opinions on the series overall. Check out this topic on our YouTube page this week as part of the #Soundbites we are featuring on #HordesofChaos. Subscribe to the Metal Tavern YouTube Page for lots of extra content.

This week’s #RetroDVDMovieVault we take on #DeepRising. Deep Rising came out in 1998 and Neko never saw it! If you like comedy, action, and monsters you will enjoy this. Hear our reactions to big explosions and some really gross (but great) effects.

Time to bring the #metal! Welcome to episode 174 of #HordesOfChaos on #MetalTavernRadio. We’ve been waiting a while to watch the film #LastNightInSoho and SPOILER ALERT-it was amazing. Both DJ Neko and DJ Anubis gave high praise and dove deep into the themes of the film.

#StrangerThings Season 4 wrapped up after the release of part 2 on July 1st. There was so much going on with this season that DJ Anubis really had some thoughts. Tune in to hear some love, hate, and controversy.

For more on our thoughts on both Stranger Things and Last Night In Soho check out our Live Stream with Deryk of Flicks Snacks and Knick Knacks to hear more.

This week’s #RetroDVDMovieVault was a twofer. DJ Neko shares her love for the Beales, two relatives of former first lady Jackie Kennedy. Living in their mansion aptly named Grey Gardens, we see the women living in squalor among their cats and racoons. We watched the movie starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange to see a dramatization of the women’s life before and after their lives in Grey Gardens. We then tackled the documentary of the same name released in 1976 by Albert and David Maysles. Both #GreyGardens offer a unique look into their lives formerly of glamor and status. PS Neko is obsessed.

How is the #metalhorde this week? Let’s get into episode #175 of the #HordesofChaos on #MetalTavernRadio.

We hit a sensitive topic this week regarding #transgender people and a few recent documentaries. Matt Walsh from the Daily Wire just released “What is a Woman?” This documentary follows Matt Walsh over the country asking the question “What is a Woman?” to lots of different people from college professors to doctors, and everyday people. It’s controversial and interesting to hear many takes on the subject. It’s conservative leaning so be aware when watching. To even out the playing field we watched “Transhood” which leans a bit more liberal and follows young people under 18 through their trials and tribulations living transgender in today’s world. Also another interesting documentary which really focuses on the children and families. Please note the views and opinions in the documentaries are not that of Metal Tavern Radio. But please keep an open mind when viewing them. Hearing the stories of each person is very interesting.

Moving onto a favorite of Metal Tavern Radio. We have raved all year about #TheBoys and have loved every season so far. On this episode you will hear our wrap up of season 3 and yes, there are a few spoilers. DJ Neko and DJ Anubis have not read the comics, but DJ Neko finds articles comparing the TV series with that of the comics, the differences, and what we loved about the series.

This week’s #RetroDVDMovieVault was one of DJ Anubis’ picks. He goes back to a favorite actor Christian Bale, with 2002’s Reign of Fire. We not only watched the movie, but many behind the scenes bonus features and really gained an appreciation for the combination of CGI work and practical effects. We applauded Rob Bowman’s approach to a unique story. It’s a clever approach to the mythology of dragons.

Let’s talk about a contest! We have 4 FREE code giveaways for a digital download of They’s “Unspeakable”. Here’s what you have to do to enter.

Let’s talk about sex! Welcome to episode 176 of the #HordesofChaos on #MetalTavernRadio. This week’s episode get’s a little steamy as we discuss Brigitte Lahaie, former porn and mainstream actress, radio talk show host, and XRCO hall of fame actress.

Brigitte never shies away from discussing sex, even if it’s controversial. Find out all the sexy details about Brigitte and what controversies she’s faced throughout her career.

Were Nazis really werewolves or were there werewolves involved in the Third Reich? We hit an interesting topic after reading an article from Smithsonian Magazine detailing how Nazis used werewolves to further their agenda. We also discuss how popular entertainment and movies has always hinted at this. Fascinating how history can almost feel supernatural….

And finally in this week’s #RetroDVDMovieVault we revisit one of DJ Anubis’ favorite 80’s movies #TuffTurf. This week was DJ Neko’s pick and since she’s never seen it we had to check it out. Starring James Spader, Robert Downey Jr, Kim Richards, and Catya Sassoon, Tuff Turf is packed with 80s awesomeness. Fun fact this was the first time James Spader and Robert Downey Jr worked together.

Can you figure out the other two movies?

Many thanks to our promotional sites and the bands for providing the #metal! Against PR, Volcano Records, The Metallist PR, Inverse Records, and Qabar PR.

Another week of #MetalTavernRadio! Welcome to episode 177 of the #HordesOfChaos.

We are ready to bring you the #metal. This week as every week we have curated an awesome playlist for your enjoyment. This week we discuss the highs and lows of the show Good Girls. The DJs enjoyed the four seasons and get into why they loved the leading actresses.

We find out there was some drama behind the scenes which lead to the show getting canceled leaving us at the end of season four on a cliffhanger! Can they get it together and bring back the final season? It’s happened before with other shows even after they were canceled.

Who is the most hated man on the internet? We find out on the three-part Netflix docuseries by the same name. We discuss the website Is Anyone Up, Hunter Moore, his fanatical worshipers who called themselves “the Family” and the damage done in through revenge porn. We learn about “Butthole Girl” and her story and how a mom pieced together a hacking scheme of some of the victims.

Finally one former Marine with an extensive cybersecurity background and friends in questionable places finally puts Hunter Moore in his place.

Our #RetroDVDMovieVault this week takes place a long time ago in the magical land of Sinbad. You’ll hear our take on The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and the amazing work of Ray Harryhausen’s special effects. Yes, the movie is dated, the effects are older, but it’s a fun story. It’s a magical adaptation of the Arabian Nights stories of Sinbad the Sailor.

Special thanks to Necrotic Records, Hardlife Promotions, Grand Sounds Promtion, and Qabar PR for selected tracks this week.
