Tim Tebow to pursue a career in professional baseball

Former NFL quarterback and current ESPN broadcaster Tim Tebow is actively pursuing a career in professional baseball and plans to hold a workout for Major League Baseball teams later this month, according to his agents Jimmy Sexton and Nick Khan.

For almost the past year, Tebow has been training in Arizona and Los Angeles to hone his hitting and fielding skills in a sport he has not played on a full-time basis since 2005.

Tebow was an All-State baseball player in Florida that year and hit .494 as a junior, helping Nease High School reach the final four of the Florida state playoffs.

"Obviously we support Tim in his pursuit of a baseball career, as we have in all his ventures," said Sexton, Tebow's football agent, who is now working with CAA baseball agent Brodie Van Wagenen.

Hope it works out for him! Hard to imagine taking 10+ years off and then making the majors right off. Maybe he can, but if not I hope he still does well enough to get into the minors and hone his skills.

It would be like Jordan, they'd start him in fall league in either Arizona or Florida, send him to minor league camp in February and either send him to A ball or extended spring training in April. Baseball could be a long road unless he's a natural. I see him being a right fielder if he can hit at all.

As a lefthanded thrower, he'd have a better chance as a lefty reliever. He already has a strong arm and as long as his pitches show good contr....

um, I think he has a better chance as a hitter.

Tebow should play RB, FB, and TE in NFL. I wish he were willing to change the position from QB to RB or TE.

No, he hits a game winning homerun in 6 consecutive games while batting under .100 and averaging over 2 fielding errors per game. After the closing pitchers figure him out, he fails to adjust and then he eventually washes out.
