Broncos cornerback Chris Harris changes agents ahead of first trip to free agency
Quote:
Broncos cornerback Chris Harris will be leaning on new representation for his anticipated first trip into unrestricted free agency. Harris said he has parted ways with long-time agent Fred Lyles and hired Chafie Fields, part of the Team Wasserman group.
“I just needed a new change,” Harris said Monday in the Broncos’ locker room.
By mid-March, Broncos fans will know if Harris’ desire for change takes him to a new team. He was embroiled in a contract dispute last spring that saw him stay away from the voluntary offseason program. General manager John Elway gave Harris a raise for 2019 and he played in all 16 games.
The Broncos have exclusive negotiating rights until March 16, when Harris’ agent can talk to other teams. The signing period begins at 2 p.m. March 18 and Harris expects a quick resolution.
