I was joking. I haven’t seen either one swing. I wouldn’t advise learning golf from me and my swing.
Get some clubs. Go to a driving range a few times, then find a cheap municipal course somewhere and try your hand. Don’t keep score the first time, turn on some music, maybe have a beer and just have fun. If you’re good, then maybe you get a little more serious about the swing and the scores. If not, then just have a good time.
Hopefully Joe did better research on girlfriends this year.
Embarrassing but not a blight on the spirit of golf.
Happy Gilmore > real golf
This is exactly why the rules are changing so thoroughly in 2019. They're so stodgy, uptight and ridiculous. Not that this wouldn't be a rules violation in 2019, but come on. Mickelson didn't do anything most of us haven't done on the course when we got pissed off. It just so happened his was a putt in a major championship where he was damn near in last place (by payout, not the cut obviously) from 20 feet and it was going to roll to 40 yards, whereas ours are from three feet and roll to two.
He didn't disrespect the game, or any such nonsense. And (not here) I've heard the most ridiculous things, about it being what we'll remember him for with his gaffes in the US Open? No. He'll be remembered for being in the lead heading to the 18th and shanking it into a hospitality tent, making bogey and placing second at Winged Foot in 2006.
