Easy fix. :D

Not if you have the mechanical prowess of a one-handed monkey. In that case, it is easy money for the mechanics. :(

I've got the mechanical prowess of a two handed monkey.;)

It shouldn't have costed much...a couple hours worth of labor max and MAYBE $50 for parts.

They quoted 3 1/2 hours labor and about twice that in parts. I know Subaru lists the bearing and seals at $108, the local shop (no Subaru around here and out of warranty) is getting the part from Napa and it was around the same. I found the wheel berrings and seals on the net ranging from $60-90, but need the car, so I am at their mercy.

PM me if you have a problem like this. As long as you have some basic tools even a one handed monkey could fix this. Sorry about your luck.

The labor time is correct 3.6 for one side. They can get it done about 2.0 The bearings should have cost you 68.47 and the seal 5.67 right from alldata dealer list.

They wound up charging me 3 hours of labor, although they quoted 3.5. The charged me $107 for the bearing and another $15 or so for two seals.

I know that the Subaru retail price on the bearing (I think a kit with the seals) is $106, but available from plenty of places online for $60-80.

Unfortunately, there are few shops in town, none of which are Subaru Dealers. So, it looks like I got dinged a little on the parts cost.
