Not even close. I understand him being optimistic about Russell being their starter in '08, yet to say he is better than the QBs since 2004 is just stupid. I mean he hasn't proved anything. The one thing I will say is that he does have arm and can really throw the ball.

Russell has huuuuuuuge upside, but they're not even close yet. I'm scared of Russell, to be honest, but the kid hasn't played much so he still has a chance to be a flopmeister.

how did russel have 167 rating in '06?

does qb rating work different in college?

i couldn't be happier than i am with cutler, not even with jemarcus...

They haven't played long enough to tell. But Cutler has done a lot more with less. Russel is have a hard time throwing to nobody next year.

Russell will be like all the other scrambling type QB's... he will do well till he gets hurt and can't play in games... The Raiders would be smart to have a good back up.

Yes the Raiders have a stellar offense and the line, man... they sure know how to protect the quarterback. I'm sure Russel will be five times better then Cutler when it comes to losing. But you can't take Raiders fans to seriously unless it comes to the drug market or drive bys.

The sick little world that faiders fans live in must be a very strange place.

In some ways it all worked out for LSU by not having Jamarcus. Nothing against Jamarcus, but LSU did win the national championship. It worked out for LSU and they won the big game. I think Jamarcus has a lot of potential. He definately needs more time to develop though.

It's weird though. Not being a homer, but I think Cutler is/going to be a better QB than Big Ben and Eli, even though they won SB's already. And better than Rivers even though he lead his team to an AFC Championship game. Cutler will get his chance to shine when this team ends the rebuilding phase and start realistically aiming for SB's. Thank you Mike Shanahan for still coaching this team, and coaching Jay Cutler from the beginning.

Out of all the young QB's, I truely believe Cutler has HOF potential more than any QB since 04. The key is staying healthy.

I hope russell does good for the raiders. As for the comparison, it would be a better argument if russell has played atleast 1 full season.

I don't as a Bronco fan.

And as for your sig? An old, overweight, lazy, and a ridiculous contract of 2 more seasons after this season a team should fear Shaq?

I think you got that about right. Russell will be going into his second season
with about the same advantages Cutler had. Russell has four games under his
belt; Cutler had five. That has to be very helpful, in that, going into their
respective de facto first seasons as starters, they will have had a taste of
the speed and complexity of the professional game.

Actually, it would be better probably to compare after several seasons. Elway,
for instance, didn't really bloom until about his third season, whereas Marino
shot right out of the gate. However, Elway's name is now mentioned more
often than Marino's when discussing G.O.A.T.

Could be the same with Cutler . . . who knows? He had a spectacular second
season, as seconds season goes. Will he continue to ascend, or will he level
off? Russell may fall flat on his face for a season or two and then break out.
He may have a great second season of is own. Or he may bust.

Greatness is determined by a career. When given players can look back on a
career, then let the controversy begin. Until then, we're only guessing.
