What do you fuys think 6' 4'' 270 punds great blitzer would be a great DE in Slowik's scheme and he might come for cheap too and would help our pass and run defense right away and was a LB in Arizona, but apperantely Arizona doesn't want to resign him and so we don't really have anyone special as a DE and he would be good one he had 98 tackles 1 int and 1 forced fumble and 6.5 sacks last year as a LB for Arizona.

I think we need to add depth at DE, he would be a nice addition, but he will probably cost a pretty penny... one reason why the Cardinals don't want to resign him. They want to lock up Dansby and Fitzgerald and can't afford Pace.

Nope. Shanny should buy Ken Hamlin and Gibril Wilson for the Safety spots and get every other piece via the draft.

No we dont need anymore DE's. We need some beef up the middle.

I wouldn't mind if they get Pace to play SLB(or even MLB if he can do that) but there's no sense in moving him to an unfamiliar position. If he can't play linebacker for the Broncos, there's no sense in getting him.

Ekuban's agent says he is 100%. Ekuban was a beast toward the end of the
2006 season (the last he played healthy).

Crowder did a terrific job as a rookie, showing good run support from his side,
and was a better pass rusher than previously thought.

Dumervil is a gifted pass rusher, and he was better at run support than
previously thought.

Engelberger is recognized as being good against the run, even though he
doesn't have a great pass rush. But he will provide valuable depth.

Mallard surprised all of us and showed himself worthy of coming back to
bolster the depth at the position.

Moss didn't get to show much before his injury, but his talent is not debatable.

Now, we don't have anyone special at DE?

No, where we apparently don't have anyone special is at DT, except for
Thomas. Let's talk DT. If not DT, then safety.

But not DE.

IMHO.

If not DT or safety, how about LB or OT (first round). Maybe FB, punter, receiver/return man, or RB in the other rounds but not a position of strength.

Crowder is impressive.
Dumervil is one demensional and struggles versus the run.
Moss is not only trying to come back from a serious injury, but he also struggles versus the run.
Engelberger is a good back up player, no one really questions that, but the defensive line stunk so bad last year that Engelberger was in the starting lineup.... that right there speaks volumes about the talent of our defensive line.
Mallard is another example of how poor our defensive line is. A guy who came on late in the season was one of the better players. A guy who couldn't even crack the practice squad on numerous teams around the league.

So add this all up we have 1 all around talent, 2 pass rush specialist who struggle versus the run, 1 decent back up player, and a practice squad talent.

Let's hope that Ekuban is 100% and can come back... We will need him!

There are much bigger needs at other positions, going after a DE would be a mistake. There's no point in making a promising, young position stronger WHEN we have so many other MAJOR weaknesses. It's a good idea, but not one that should be carried out.
