Wesley Woodyard’s brother is currently working in Iraq alongside the U.S. Military, so it comes as no surprise that Woodyard would have an affinity for the troops.

Inspired by his brother, the inside linebacker decided to donate 10 tickets to Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders to military men and women who have recently come back from overseas.

“Sitting around talking to Andra Davis, he also expressed that it would probably be a good idea for me to reach out to the troops, just to show the support and the love that we as Broncos have for them,” Woodyard said.

He worked with the ticket office to help find soldiers who were back from abroad, and provided tickets to get them out to INVESCO Field at Mile High this weekend.

“It’s pretty good to get them to come to the game,” Woodyard smiled. “I know they’re going to be loud.”

SANTA THE LINEBACKER

Darrell Reid will don the big red suit Friday evening, dressing up as Santa Claus to benefit his Footz Foundation.

Reid will meet and greet fans from 4:30 to 7 p.m. MST at the JW Marriott at the Cherry Creek North Shopping Center. The outside linebacker/defensive end will sign autographs, snap pictures and mingle with fans as a “celebrity Santa.”

Tickets to the event are $10, and tickets to a 30-minute VIP reception just prior to the public meet-and-greet are available for $100. During the event, memorabilia will be available through purchase and raffle. All of the proceeds will go to the Footz Foundation.

The mission of Reid’s foundation is to educate, empower and inspire youth to believe and achieve and promote future success and guidance through life’s challenges. The foundation partners with a variety of programs to provide opportunities for leadership, development and academic achievement. The ultimate goal is to enable youth to positively impact their lives, families, schools and communities.

Tickets are on sale through Denver Magazine’s website at www.denvermagazine.com/celebritysanta. Tickets will be required for admittance and each person will also receive special holiday promotional discounts and offers for shopping in Cherry Creek North.
