OK, maybe I'm a hopeless homer, BUT I think you can make a good case that this is the best trio of receivers to play the game as a trio circa 1997-98. There may have been better WR tandems than Smith and Eddie Mac (though very damned few). As a threesome, though, I can't think of a better group. The only one I can come up with off the top of my head is Joiner/Chandler/Winslow - and I'd still go with the Bronco group.
Thoughts?

Holt, Bruce, & Hakim was a pretty good one
Carter, Moss, and does it matter?
Dwight Clark, Jerry Rice, and John Taylor
Alvin Harper, Michael Irivn, and Jay Novechek
Dallas Clark, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne
There are so many good ones.

Jake Reed may find this to be offensive.
Kellen Winslow, Charlie Joiner, Wes Chandler/John Jefferson
Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Brent Jones

Berry, Mackey, and Orr were pretty scary. I always think of a true top notch trio as needing an honest-to-God Tight End, but thats mostly my own preferences at work.

...Clerance Kay...
That name should never appear in this thread again. He had hands like skillets. I despaired during the Clarence Kay era.

Those 3 were together for one year. Clark was old and Taylor was too raw to do anything.

So far I don't see a better trio than Eddie Mac, Smith, and Sharpe.

If you look at their blocking, route running, hands, physical strength, leadership and intelligence, there may have not been as good a unit that has ever played together. Speed and game breaking ability (Excluding Sharpe) not so much.

Sharpe was known to bust a couple long ones.

He was a matchup nightmare. Too physical for corners free safeties, too quick for linebackers/strong safeties.

The three of them made each other more dangerous - and those Denver teams had a huge advantage in that they could do all of this from a conventional Pro or Blocking Back set, rather than having to go with multiple wideouts.

No doubt. Just line up and play, straight up.
