DENVER - The public will have an opportunity to remember and honor a man who became synonymous with the Denver Broncos football team because of the outfit he wore to each game.

Tim McKernan, who was known as the "Barrel Man" because he wore nothing but a barrel, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat to every Broncos home game, died last week at age 69.

A public memorial was scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 19 at 12:30 p.m. on the steps of the Civic Center.

The Broncos superfan was diagnosed with an inoperable respiratory disease earlier this year and was told he had between two months and six months to live.

For 30 years, snow, rain or sunshine, McKernan donned a barrel and cheered on the Broncos, first at Mile High Stadium and then later at INVESCO Field at Mile High.

He retired from being the Barrel Man after the 2007 Broncos season.

They should do a bronzed barrelman somewhere on the grounds for Invesco. That man earned it! :salute:

Nothing new on what the Broncos are going to do to honor Tim but they have a good slide show of him in action over the years
