I had originally posted the list on BM, here is some updated info. DirecTV is saying that they will launch 20-40 of these on 9/16.

Also, I don't believe it is listed, but Foxnews just announced they would be launching an HD simulcast on DirecTV.

These channels are reported to be up in a test mode on DirecTV

There are rumblings that Dish and Cable will also pick up some of these channels after they launch (most of these networks haven't launched their HD channels yet), but there is also talk that many of them don't have the bandwidth to put up the 100+ that DirecTV claims they will have by year end.

I sure as hell know that my small time cable provider (Sudden Link) and all of our whole 12 HD channels right now won't be picking up too many of those.

I'm moving out of my house (if I don't deploy) in October-November. Direct TV here I come!

Suddenlink here, too. I don't think we even have 12. Only one network (ABC) in HD and then 8 or 9 others.

Same with us with network TV. We've got Discovery, ESPN, HDNET, HDNET Movies, Universal HD, A&E, HGTV, Food, National Geographic, HBO, Showtime, and one other movie channel.

Are you in TX as well?

I was excited to hear this news in January when I first signed up with DirecTV HD. They told me then.. much more was coming.

My question is price. Currently I'm paying the monthly HD fee of $9.95 per receiver. They said it would jump to $24.95.

Tacking on another $5 for that many more channels is ok with me, but the base pricing is where they are getting us.

And on top of that, Direct TV is currently charging $400 for the DVR/HD box...I called...eff that.

I was an existing customer and they came out and put a second dish on our house. One other TV is still on the original dish.

We didn't have to pay for the new box. If this box does not get all these new channels and they want that $400 for me to change yet again, they can forget it

If you already have an HD/DVR (Tivo) box, you're golden. But, because HD is really in high demand right now and DirectTV has a shortage of supply, they're getting away with charging new customers with the combo box. However, if you want JUST an HD box or JUST a DVR box, Direct TV throws that in for free.
