Broncos lose tackle Ryan Harris for season
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 8, 2009 4:42 PM ET
Broncos tackle Ryan Harris' absence from the Broncos lineup for nearly all of November had a noticeable effect on the team's offense.

Now the Broncos will have to get used to playing without him for the rest of the season.

Harris re-injured his toe Sunday against the Chiefs, and was told by a medical specialist that he won't be able to play again this season, according to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post. Local Denver hero Tyler Polumbus will take over Harris' spot.

Harris isn't a household name, but he's quietly developed into one of the better right tackles in football for the Broncos.

The team has largely done an excellent job protecting Kyle Orton and creating holes for the team's ninth-ranked rushing attack.

Ahh dammit. That really hurts. Not to mention what a great player he is, but we are already so short on depth along the oline.

I think the Giants game is the only one weve won without him. Im not sure though, and to sad to really look.

Looks like he'll be on injured reserve, I guess they'll have to put clay's fat ass out there to block. Clay, please don't let your disdain for kyle get in the way of protecting him. We need his ankles.

Well that pretty much sucks. Hopefully Polumbos or whatever the heck his name is can fill the rest of the year. From what I've seen, he has done ok. Not great in pass protection, but he's a youngen and learning.

Okay, Harris is gone. The Saints released Chris McAlister today. I'm thinking we fill Harris' spot with McAlister before the Indy game. Another cagey veteran DB. Champ, Law, McAlister, and Dawkins sounds good to me. I'd do it if I was McD. McAlister, like Law and Dawkins, isn't in his prime but he's another smart CB to put on the field vs the Colts.

Lets all just be thankful that with Orton, it's Clady covering his blind side.
Just say NO to lefty back-up QBs

Sucks he gone but we have been VERY lucky with injuries this season.

Extremely disappointing. Polumbus is a P.O.S. and almost everyone knows it. Sad to see that he only got to play in eight games, well more realistically six this season. He's still very young, only 24 and can get much better. I hope his injuries to his toes won't impact his footwork in the future.

Not sure if this is posted anywhere else, but got this from CBS4....

Also on Wednesday, the Broncos signed free-agent tackle Herb Taylor, a third-year tackle who entered the NFL with Kansas City as a sixth-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was waived by the Chiefs at the end of 2009 training camp.

Taylor appeared in 18 games (1 start), including all 16 contests in 2008, with the Chiefs. As a rookie in 2007, Taylor played in two games, was declared inactive for 11 games and dressed but did not play in three outings for Kansas City.

At Texas Christian University, Taylor helped the Horned Frogs to an 11-2 record and a win in the Poinsettia Bowl as a senior. He earned first-team All-Mountain West recognition as a senior left tackle after garnering the same recognition as a junior right tackle.

herb taylor, a former chief. Not good enough for the Chiefs, how good can he really be? If you get cut by the Chiefs, you should probably be looking at the UFL for your next job.

He's just going to be backing up the back up, not likely a permanent solution.

Can't get mad at a band-aid.

Ryan Harris is our 2007 first-rounder.

Okay, I know he was taken in the third round. But hear me out.

2007 is a draft year that sticks on the craw for many of us, and rightly so.
After all, Crowder never lived up to his 2nd round hype, and Moss, so far, has to
be considered a 1st round bust, even though he's still on the team, because you
don't expect one drafted that high to spend his third year in the pros on the
inactive list for most of the games.

Marcus Thomas has done okay for a 4th-rounder, still playing in the rotation on
the D-line. He may be a good one someday. Someday.

Ryan Harris is the salvation of that draft. He has become one of the best RTs in
the sport, and I am confident he could do a fine job of protecting a QB's back if
it came to that.

Harris has become one of the stars of the offense, and it's going to be hard
for Polumbus to fill his shoes. The Broncos are going to miss him dearly the
rest of the season, especially in pass protection.

Here's to Ryan Harris. Come back soon . . .

Yeah, I was pretty excited and hyped up about Jarvis and Crowder, Didn't live up to our or shanny's expectations, not their fault of course.
