Here are the 2008 cap commitments for all 32 teams, with the number of players currently under contract listed in parentheses.

This does not include leftover credits and charges from 2007 (include money pushed forward using the bogus incentive loophole), nor does it include the voiding of contracts or any tenders. (Any players whose contracts will void still are listed as under contract at their scheduled cap number.)

wow look at washington at 140 mill.

tenn only 79 mill! that's almost half of washingtons cap.

it's been posted that we are around 17 mill under the cap right now. then lepsis retired (don't know if that helped this year, maybe next year it will) henry might restructure and hopefully walker will. i'm not holding my breath on walker. who knows, maybe gold will also restructure. so we might be close to 20 mill when it's all said and done.

bowlen did say we need to be carefull in free agency. i don't think he was pleased at all about the players we went after.

What's the cap number that we have to stay under? How much do we have to spend?

I had thought we were under by like 16 mil in the last thing I saw posted.. I guess we are going to have to cut some vets to do what we need to do this year..

WHO is first to go??..

I think we will have some guys restructure. Henry, Walker, Gold, Bly and Lynch if he comes back.

If a couple of these guys don't restructure I can see us cutting them or dealing them.

Thats pretty good for us though, right?

If i understand correctly we have 53 players under contract next year. I know not all are starters, but if its a 55?...wait 52 man roster???

......thats how you know its offseason when i cant even remember the roster...

Then we shouldnt have to much to worry about as far as losing some of our valuable guys to FA.

I agree with will be more careful, but as you will also recall shanny, i believe stated that this offseason would be insane. Now maybe they wont go after some washed ups, maybe they will just fork out the cash for a couple big namers and over pay, or maybe work some crazy trades.

It interesting because we have so many holes to fill, and so many question marks regarding players remaining with the team-walker,lynch,nique etc. That its almost impossible to speculate as to what the real battle plan is.

I think over the next couple of weeks things will start to shake out.. mikey needs to talk with everyone face to face and figure it out.. Who stays and who takes a pay cut to stay and then who goes..

Don't forget to include Bailey salary for re-structuring as well.

I don't know if he will restructure, but probably look for a better contract... He will probably want something like Nate Clements got in San Fran.

Jacksonville is in fine shape. they could seriously sign like the 3 best free agents and still be sitting pretty.

a big portion of nate's deal was backloaded into the final years of the contract, which will almost surely not ever actually happen as he will be gone or restructure before they come around.

80 million is a sexy number, but as far as i have read, champ still has the highest salary for a cb in the league. --not to say he won't be interested in a better deal...
