With 14 sacks on the season, Elvis is just 2 shy of tying the record and 3 (or 2.5) short of breaking it.

This guy has made the transition to the 3-4 in brilliant fashion.

He's also the only player under 6 ft to have 10 sacks in a season.

Who currently has the record? Simon Fletcher? I think he'll break it this season.

Yeah, Fletcher. 16 in 1992. I think.

Hey I called this one a bust before he played a down..

being short I thought he would be swallowed up but monster OT's..

but the guy gets underneath them and slides right by..

since this is BIG mans game did not think he had a chance at DE..

becoming an OLB brilliant move by Nolan and brilliant play by Doom..:salute:

Nice. Having the balls to eat crow. I like it. Very few ever do on these sites anymore.
I always thought he would be a good player, but i never thought he would work in the 3-4. Man, was i wrong.
He has become the most valuable player on the team.
Simply put, he MUST be resigned to continue the complete overhaul of the defense. Absolute must-keep player at ALL COSTS.

Not so sure of the comparison...

....maybe more like Freeney?

5 games to get 3 sacks with games against Oakland and KC x2. Yeah he'll get that next week. NFL record is what 21.5? Making it 8 sacks in the next five games? He could get the NFL record too. :cheer2::cheer2:

On top of all those sacks, Doom probably leads the league in non called holding/hands to the face calls against whoever is trying to block him.

That would be interesting of course. Tough to sack Peyton Manning, but other than him every other QB is sackeable. So, he could break it, but he'd need to go on another tear.

If he does he's going to get ONE MONSTER PAY RAISE next year! If the Broncos let him go they are seriously stupid!

P.S. I still find it difficult to believe anybody actually said that JaMarcus Russell is more talented than Elway. Not even the stupidest of Raider fans can believe that one right now.

To be fair, its easier when you admit to being wrong when its a situation that turns out better than expected!

For example, "I didn't think we were gonna win the Super Bowl, but we did", or, "I thought she would slap me after suggesting that, but next thing you know..."

Strahan broke his record a few years ago when he had that weak sack of Favre, remember?

You are correct. He got 22.5 in 2001.

This does illustrate a problem that has frustrated me for years, where do you go to get the official updated records?

Back when I was a kid, my mom got me a subscription to Football Digest. They would post the all-time individual single game, season and career records every year. However, they don't have a website and they are not sold in any stores. Besides, I'm not into buying publications that will be out of date by the end of the month.

You would think that NFL.com would post these records. If they do, then they have them hidden away somewhere were I can't find them. So, if you want to know what the official all-time records are, where do you go?

I'm very happy for him. I hope he breaks the team record. For that matter he does have an outside chance of getting at least 20 sacks this season.

Great link! Defenately the best collection of stats I've ever seen. Although, they don't have the single game records. In any case, it is confermed that Strahan 22.5 in 2001 is the standing record! As far as Doom getting the 9 he needs in 5 games to break the record? That's a pretty tall order even with him getting KC 2X and Oakland once more.
