Rivers began talking after Sunday's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles about the redoubling of focus that needs to come now that the Chargers have aced the first two portions of this three-game midterm exam by beating the New York Giants and the Eagles on successive Sundays.

He is also the one who led the agenda immediately following the loss to Denver on Oct. 19 that the Chargers simply needed to worry about themselves, to make each practice count, to hold each other accountable and that things would come around.

As he walked from the field Sunday, he leaned as he passed a reporter, smiled and said, “It's a month later.”

As Rivers made his way to the parking lot a short while later, he pulled up as he spoke.

“I know people always say this is the best team since I've been here and that sort of thing,” he said. “I think that gets said too much. But I do think this is as focused and the best we've approached week to week since I've been here. It's really businesslike, from a player's standpoint, the best since I've been here.”

As for the embattled head coach whose .610 winning percentage, counting the playoffs, is the best in Chargers history, Norv Turner was noticeably upbeat but generally just as in the moment as always when he addressed the media yesterday.

As should have been expected from a man with as even a keel as has ever been bestowed on a human, there was no admission of vindication or anything more than an acknowledgment his team is morphing into what he thought it would.

“I knew what we needed to do as a football team,” Turner said. “ . . . The important thing is to keep improving and win as you're doing that. . . . We've gotten ourselves playing the type of football we want to play, and we need to build on it.”

Here's to building our focus in Denver !!:D

On a side note... Norv has a .610 winning percentage counting the playoffs with San Diego??!!! I had no flipping idea..

Here is how i approach this game. Keep sproles from busting out on screens and flat passes, and blitz philly into oblivion, again.

Gates and VJ cant beat our secondary.

(although barrett was out last week, he is our TE specialist.)

We really need him back in the lineup to lock up on gates. For some reason i think you guys pull the old trick LT pass play to gates on us. Hopefully, you dont or we sniff it out.

And i want us to run a normal run play right up the guy. No long forming traps. I want a pound you into submission Run game called by us. I think it would demorilize you from the start.

Sadly, i know Mcdaniels would never do that, he is stuck on his 3 different run plays and formations.

When LT was 22 Josh McDaniels wasn't even born yet, he's an old broken down washed up 3rd string worthy backup at best, that leaves sproles - the track star who can't make a cut or break a tackle to save his life. (ask ray ray)

LT- even healthy isnt getting the blocks he usually did. Now he sucks becuase of it. Maybe its because your C?, is out. He can bring it, but i worry more about sproles in space and gates and VJ.

Yeah, you can handle phillies blitz. Not ours. We just gave you a taste. You think we are going to hit the double A again. We will, but not like last time.

Nolan is tooo smart for that. Look for a CB blitz and maybe Doom to line up at NT in 3rd and long try to shoot the gap. The key to phillis is, give him time and he will burn you. Get in his face and he will poop his pants..

Bring the heat BRoncos.

PS- Knowshon invited a bunch of friends and family to this game. There is even a cake. This game will be his coming out party. Coming out with 200+ 5tds. Well, maybe not that much, but 100+ and 1 td for sure.

I've missed our debates about football reality. The reality this weekend is that Rivers will kill your blitz with screens and slants to LT, Gates and Sproles. Then when Nolan brings 8 into the box VJ and Floyd are going to go jump ball deep on you poor little ponies!! It will be hard for you to watch.

Sorry to hear knowrun's party is going to be spoiled. Maybe he should have picked another game and saved himself the embarrassment.

Reality, in everyday usage, means "the state of things as they actually exist." Literally, the term denotes what is real:beer:

Naww. Don't place it on Hochuli. You forget Cutler was about to complete a

And that the dolts had two (2) chances to prevent a loss, anyway.

Just watched my tivo of the game, sober. What a beat down. I know the stats other than TOP weren't that lopsided but this was a in your face smacking.
I guess the Chargers showed hoodie jr. who owned who................

........and all of those loyal empty seats diguised as fans that left with 5+ minutes left in the 3rd quarter, must been beating the rush to dinner.

Speaking of empty seats...I made a thread about this...

Chargers fear blackout for the Chiefs

The Chiefs could be playing their third straight road game that will be blacked out in the home team's market.

The San Diego Chargers said more than
7,300 tickets need to be sold for their next home game, Nov. 29 against the Chiefs to lift the television blackout in the San Diego market.

With the large number of tickets still unsold, it appears likely that the game will be blacked out in Southern California. It would be the first Chargers regular season or postseason game blacked out since Nov. 7, 2004. Since then, the team has sold enough tickets to lift the NFL’s local blackout of 44 consecutive games.

“It is extremely unlikely that we will sell 1,000 tickets a day for the next seven days,” said Chief Operating Officer Jim Steeg.

The Chiefs games at Jacksonville on Nov. 8 and at Oakland on Nov. 15 were blacked out in those markets.

ya, with all those empty seats it looked like qualcomm from 1985 to 2002. Just like you, the fans only show up once a decade. You're a fool, but we've been through this before.

showed who's who? the season series is 1-1, "hoodie jr" is doing more with less. The Chargers should be mopping everyone up with the talent they have, but the poor coaching and terrible attitude of certain players makes your team worse than they should be. Have fun watching your team lose another playoff game.

You should go to qualcomm sometime and check out the stack of lombardi's on display... oh sorry, I forgot... :elefant:

I've missed our debates about football reality. The reality this weekend is that Rivers will kill your blitz with screens and slants to LT, Gates and Sproles. Then when Nolan brings 8 into the box VJ and Floyd are going to go jump ball deep on you poor little ponies!! It will be hard for you to watch.

Sorry to hear knowrun's party is going to be spoiled. Maybe he should have picked another game and saved himself the embarrassment.

I've missed our debates about football reality

A SD fan wants to talk reality? Ok. Here's a dose of reality.

The reality is that seemingly every year San Diego is toasted by idiot experts, analysts and stat-guys on ESPN as Super Bowl champions and they fail. In epic, miserable, gut wrenching fashion.

The reality is if San Diego makes the Playoffs this Season, as a Division winner or Wild Card, they won't win the Super Bowl, let alone get to the Super Bowl.

The reality is that San Diego hasn't won anything of note except AFL Championships, which are pretty meaningless considering that at the time the AFL was the redheaded stepchild to the NFL. Today, that's like Cleveland Browns status right there. Even KC and the NYJ have Super Bowl Championships to boast and cling to. SD has never won shit.

The reality is that their chances of success with this core squad (aside from Rivers) is running out. When you win that consistently for several years and win what is essentially nothing, through age, Free Agency, parity, injuries and other teams improvement (not necessarily the Broncos), a team is due for a step back. Look at the NYG. I'm not using them as an example because Denver just shredded them, but because they're a good example.

And there's some reality.

Have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Sure, break out the trophy polish. But your team of chokers hasn't been relevant since, oh yeah, ever, since Elway. The Colts flippin' embarassed you in one-sided humiliations everytime the Rat snuck you to the post-season, and now? Almost as big an annual joke as the Raiders. Congrats on the big win against the Giants.:coffee:

But hey, wind the clock back and squeeze your teddy bear if it will help you sleep at night, especially when your season ends after game 16, again.:D

You can continue dwelling in fantasyland thinking the championship-less Chargers are some sort of AFC juggernaut. That is simply not the case. I also wouldn't hang your hopes on 2009 either yet with more football to be played.

I am thoroughly confused by your line of thought.

Either, you meant getting to the Super Bowl, which you've only done once, or you mean playoff wins, which is a laughing matter as well.

This is where you bring up the "Since the Super Bowl win" argument...but this is when I inform you that you have one more win than the Broncos in the playoffs since the Super Bowl win.

Either way you try and spin it the Chargers fail.

Good job taking out the Giants on a short week after being destroyed by the Chargers. A lot of teams would have folded after an ass kicking like that.

KC fan for a week? I myself dont cheer for any AFC west teams, couldnt care less how they finished. If the Broncos win enough games to make the playoffs, so be it. If they don't, thats on them.
