9NEWS had an interview with Tim McKernan last night, and he said he has two to six months to live due to having an inoperable lung disease

Yea, I read about this. Real shame.

For many years, the image of him in his barrel was synonymous with the Broncos and Mile High Stadium.

Hope he enjoys what time he has left.

Is he bed ridden?

This is no joke...they should retire his barrel, put it on display somewhere at the stadium (after his passing of course)

This is pretty sad. One of the many images that stuck with me when I first started watching the Broncos. He truly is part of the franchise/history..

Hopefully the Broncos usher him out in style......

I once put together a sig with Barrelman in it. It was when the Broncos were playing the Steelers in the AFC Championship game.

Prayers for him and his family.

The guy is a Broncos icon. He has a few interviews in the History of the Denver Broncos DVD.
That really sucks. Maybe the boys can use this as bulletin board material. I can hear Pat now in Florida at the end of January..."This one's for Barrel Man..."

This is very sad news. :( He's been there through thick and thin, through snow, ice, and heat. What an amazing fan!

Very sad news.....hopefully the Broncos can continue the success they have had to date this season to make what looks like his last season a special one.

he's a part of the denver broncos. i agree with reidman, the team needs to honor him in some way, hopefully soon, so he can be a part of it.

Since he is already in the HOF, the best way for the Broncos to honor him would be to put him in the "Ring of Fame", and it sounds like it needs to be done asap.

Sad news.

If it be his wishes, hopefully his barrel will be displayed forever more at Broncos stadium!

He is a BRONCOS icon!! I can't remember watching a BRONCOS home game without the camera showing his presence and I was sad to see him hang the 'barrel' up in 2007:(. This is very sad indeed and maybe the BRONCOS will dedicate this Monday Night game for him and whip the field with the Steelers!

I know it's in the moment, but I was reading at BM and someone brought up the point that BarrelMan should be put into the Ring of Fame this year! Honestly, I would like to see it done before he goes 'home'. What do you think??

So sad to hear. I've seen him in so many game scenes when they flash to the crowd. He's an icon, a motivator, and the true image of what an unselfish fan is. I'm glad he's at least gonna get to die in peace seeing his team being successful (as we are right now) instead of being dreadful.

They showed clips of him in the pre-game video segments at Wembley Stadium before this year's London game.
Barrelman's not just part of Broncos history ... he's part of NFL history.

Wow. This is truly sad and we are gonna miss him so much. They should design a statue of him and put the statue by the Stadium. He is a true icon of this organization forever.

This is the barrel mans last season before he retires
Me, Myself, and I
The Barrel Man (real name Tim McKernan) is a superfan of the Denver Broncos. He attends all Broncos home games at INVESCO Field at Mile High wearing nothing but a barrel.

He has been attending Broncos games in his immodest barrel for 30 years in all types of weather. He will retire after the 2007 season at the age of 67.

McKernan had serious health issues in 2003, after an abdominal aneurysm ruptured. Since that time he has been restricted by doctors to wearing his barrel for one half of play, and only when the temperature is above freezing

In 1999, The Barrel Man beat John Elway to Canton, Ohio, as the first "Bronco" inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

They used to have these very nice commercials of the people that worked for United Airlines, always thought of Tim when I saw those.

Shook his hand, got a pic just last year.

What a good guy.

Tim, if they ever try to put a roof over the team I'll fight em like hell.

Just so you can still watch.

He will be missed and I agree with Reid that it would be nice to see the organization en shire the barrel after he passes.
