I was surfing the net, looking for draft stuff, and saw an old site that I used to check out frequently: couchscout.com. NFL players are rated all the way down to High School. He gives each player a score. I wanted to see how he rated the Bronco players. Interesting! You can make comments on whether you agree or disagree. You can move players up or drop players down. Just for fun!

sort of like what Ian Gold turns into when any running back makes a move on him.

Ernster is ranked above Moss. LOL! If that ain't motivation for a player recovering from injury I don't what is.

How the Players are ranked on Couch Scout

All this factor are added together

+ Physical Stuff. Ratio of Height, Weight and Speed in the Forty yard dash

(Minimum info needed to get a rating is the Physical Stuff area / The amount of information in the follow categories varies massively. As more information comes in most cases it improves a rating. A good argument could be made, that the higher rating player, the more data I have. But the better player create a buzz, more info)

+B. Bench Press, Squat, dead lift, 20 yard shuttle and Vertical Jump again in ratio to Weight

+A. Athletic Talent
Kickers - Accuracy 40 and in
Punters - Boomability -

-I. Injuries

-E. Off Field issuses

Positonal GRADING - Run for or Against

+R Defensive players -Ability vs the run, (of course this varies per defensive position)

Offensive Line - pure grading of effective run blocking,
Receivers and QB's - run after catch, (tackles made miss, either power or finessee )
RB - ability to make others miss, (Barry Sanders made 13 people miss on one play, he gained
4 yards)
Kickers- Range
punters- time to get punt off - (great divider of Punters-)

+ M DB - Cover in the shorter zones
LB - Blitzing skills
De Line Guys- Pentration, moving the line of scrimmage back
O Line Guys - Pulling, abilities out of the hole
TE -WR - Hands, (BB's in wind storm)
RB- Power Running
QB - middle range accuracy (great divider of QB's) 10-25 yards
Punter- there are punters who can make awesome catchs saving disaster

+ P DB- Deep Covers
LB- General pass coverage skills
DE Line guys- Passing Rushing

This is the basics, lot of little position specific stuff, but the basics.

O Line - Pass Blocking
QB- Reads
RB-FB- Hands
WR - Deep Recieving skills

+ X DB and Linebackers -Impact hitting
De Line - Hustle -effort and Hitting
O Line - Power Blocking
QB- Release
RB-FB -WR- TE - Run Blocking
Kicker -Punter - Clutch

+ Z Special Teams -Factor for Kick and Punt Returning , Cover of , Long Snapping

+ C All Except QB - Field Savvy-
QB- ability to throw short pass, right touch, timing, and accuracy

+ T Defensive Players - Tackling skills
O Line - blocking at the second level
RB-FB- Pass Blocking -Blitz pick up
WR-TE, catching inside, lack of alligator arms. Paying the price.
Kicker and Punter- Tackling ability

- F DEfensive Players - ability to turn the ball over- mostly Intercepts, but opportunistic and blasted
fumbles caused

Centers- ability to deliver the ball
O Line - recovery of the ball after, some guys have nack,

So Jason Elam is in the bottom 10? The same Jason Elam that won the majority of our games?

I agree with the 1st being Champ Bailey, Other then that they rest is pretty much crap.

The question should be, if we lost one guy who's loss would hurt us the most?

That would be the only way to determine who mean the most to this team. I'm sorry but losing Moss hurt a lot more then Ernster

If you look at it that way, Cutler would have to be at the top. Losing Champ hurt us but a CB just don't have the impact on a team that the starting QB does.

That's part of the problem with their scoring criteria right there; Joe Montana is nowhere near as athletic or strong as even most NFL QBs today, yet he one of the best ever. Using that criteria, Michael Vick would probably rate as one of the best in that category.
