Footnotes.

The league will not fine safety John Lynch for tossing aside the helmet of San Diego running back LaDainian Tomlinson during Monday night's game. In their recent game against San Diego, Broncos' DEs Elvis Dumervil and Tim Crowder were credited with a half sack. Upon review, Dumervil was credited with a full sack, giving him 12 on the season.

The only bright spot on the D line and actually he wasn't that bright all the time. He disappeared several games when we really needed him.

Yeah, that's what happens when you get double-teamed. Actually pay attention in this game and you will see what I'm talking about.

I didnt see too many "double teams" in the SD game.

This is good news. Maybe HD will spend a bit more time here now.

Get ready, DC. I'm sure HD is going to come up with a very nice avatar.

Oh trust me, I pay attention. I also see other DE's getting double teamed and making plays. I watch Doom quit a bit. Quit making your excuses, he is what he is right now, A 3rd down specialist trying to play full time. It takes away from his efectiveness as a pass rusher, so pay attention please.

He is also the smallest DE in the league. I think he is playing as well as he possibly can given his size. 12 sacks is more than ANYONE thought he would get in a season when we drafted him.

Avatar bet between them. DC didn't think Doom would get 12, HD did. The winner gets to choose the loser's avatar for a month.

OK, I agree with you. We all know he is the smallest DE in the league. I simply stated he is very inconsistent and I think his role should be a 3rd down spcialist. I think he plays too many snaps and it hampers his effectiveness.

You're probably right. But given how thin our D-line is right now, he pretty much has to play more snaps.

Looking at his stats, he does have the 12 sacks, but when comparing tackles, etc. he WAY below where the other leading DE's are.

Your right, he is only 250 pounds and the smallest DE in the league, So he probably is playing as well as he can. But just because he is trying as hard as he can don't make him an every down DE. He sucks against the run! I'm not trying to be rude or bash Doom, I really like him and the sad part is he probably is the best DE we have against the run.

He is just to small to be an effective every down DE. He gets blocked out of the play by TE's and FB's. Hell, half the TE in the league are bigger then he is.

We need 2 new starting DE for us next year. Hopefully Moss can gain some weight and be able to start along with Crowder. If not he is just a pass specialist too and we will need another run stopping DE

Congrats to Doom. The little fella has over 20 sacks in his SHORT career(didn't start off as a pun, but I kinda liked it). Hopefully next year he can step up in crunch time when it matters and become more consistent for us.

MHCBill

He can get to 15 sacks if he was used as a pass rush specialist only... the Broncos blitzed more... more creative, deceptive schemes... and there was a better push from the middle of the pocket.

I think it was for the off-season. Now we need HD to determine where the heck he is going to post so that we can see it.

MHCBill

Also, wouldn't hurt if Denver was up early and often in most games so that the pass rush didn't have to worry about the run.

Sortof like Freeney for the Colts. It's much easier to rush the QB when your offense is scoring like crazy all the time and your opponent has to play catch up all game.

It is the entire offseason.

A little avatar bet?

If Elvis has 12 sacks or more I'll put a Broncos avatar up for the entire off-season. If he doesn't, you can put up a Chiefs one.

I bet he could get a lot more sacks if he sacked the QB every play. Wait.

Maybe someone could photo-shop one of DC's pics from in front of Arrowhead, but with a Dumervil Jersey on. . .it would be difficult, but worth it for the entire off-season.
