Someone's got to clear this up. I was just listening to sports radio and thought I heard Norv Turner was fired after the game. Is this for real or did I hear something wrong?

Ok, I must have misheard. There's been no mention of it since so it can't be true. I turned it on late, must have been hyperbole by JT the Brick.

I hope Norv never gets fired. He looked like he wanted to cry in his presser, it was funny.

Yeah, I'm assuming that's what the radio guys were talking about.

Why? Keep Norv he will keep the Chargers a mediocre team. Just like Al Davis has done to the Raiders.

Agreed. Apparently I was on crack earlier when I was absolutely convinced I heard the Radio guys talking about Norv being fired. In the ensuing 10 minutes I started to worry that the infusion of new blood could actually bring this team together since Turner obviously isn't bringing them together. Glad it's not happening right now.

But, like Zorn, Turner's definitely done at the end of the year if the Chargers don't quickly get on a huge run.

He was always sounds like that. Norv sounds like he's blubbering when he speaks. It's just how he talks.

I always thought Norv Turner looked like Al Gore

Shanahan kind of looks like Bush. Especially his nose. Not as much as Norv though.

I hope Turner doesn't get fired because then they'd go after Shanny and that would be a nightmare.

Not to disrespect our former HOF coach, but then their defense would never get better. Is that a bad thing?

Norv is an outstanding offensive minded guy like Shanny so it would be about the same IMO.

That's just wrong. Shanny is way better than Turner it's not even close.

That was Zorn in Washington that was stripped of play calling duties. Although there seems to be a lot Charger fans that would like to see that happen, but that a distant second to what they would really like to do him.

SD would NEVER go after shanahan. AJ Smith is the GM in SD. Not happening.

I'm not saying that Norv is better, what I am saying is that it would be no different. Defensively the Chargers would faulter just like they are now and offensively they would flourish (as they mostly do now).

That is all I meant by that. So in looking at it like that, not much difference IMO.

I have officially withdrawn my support for Norv. Can't take it any longer. The most predictable coach in the league. Phooey.

How prescient were those of us who, after Turner was hired, said "Give the guy a few years and he will wreck your team just like he has done everywhere else. Good assistant, bad head coach."

Poor Norv, seems like an OK guy, just not HC material. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...

ON 1090 in San Diego, they were asking who they would want to replace Norv. I just love those fans. 75% had us losing (ok, fine), then after the game, 92% said Chargers wont even make the playoffs. They turn on their team in a blink of an eye. I am sure they are wearing their paper bags over their heads in the avatars.

actually I was watching PTI today on ESPN and Peter King said Shanahan will be likely be switching to a 3-4 defense wherever he goes if it's not already installed and that he will address his defensive woes of the past by hiring a quality def coord and allowing him to do his job, while focusing on offense and special teams.

I think Shanahan realizes his failures and will take steps to correct it. Hindsight always makes it easier to reflect on what we did wrong in the past, to ensure success in the future.

Good for him! I wish him the best. He is an awesome coach and if he can fix his areas of concern, then he will definately help whatever team he will go to.

Yea, Norv is a good Offensive Cordinator but has a track record as a average HC. Shanahan was a much better HC despite his downfall the last few years of his service to the Broncos.

Or, watching your replacement go out and get a bonafide DC, use some of the same players and have much better success.
