Honestly, I never wish harm to any players but seeing John Lynch take out Philip Rivers seems very nice right now.

Oh well, John Lynch doesn't like to hurt women.

Nice first post.

I'm sorry but if it were any other team on the field, they would have given Rivers a taste of fist sandwich if he had done that.

Another thing, if Cutler had done that to Rivers, I'm sure Chargers fans would be saying much worse things.

I am not going to defend the Charger players or Cutler in this rivalry. They were both talking crap that is for sure.

As for what Charger fans would or wouldn't do that is anyone's guess. Same goes for Denver fans. They are no different IMO.

Watch the video again and tell me who is talking crap, it was clearly the Chargers players. Then you get Rivers who is too much of a girl to admit he was an idiot and comes out and lies saying he said nothing much. That is the kind of behaviour I hate.

Sanluis you are a classy guy, but there's no doubt that even the Chargers players would be moaning like mad if Cutler did the same thing. I can admit some of my players suck, you have to admit your players moan like little girls.

Champ's response:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3169781

After perceived slight at Cutler, Bailey responds to Rivers' actions

As an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey has lined up and locked down plenty of guys around the league.

And I don't really care for [Phillip Rivers], first of all. He's not a respectable guy right now because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you're really not a great player in this league right now.

-- Denver's Champ Bailey

But Bailey says there was no defense for Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers' sideline taunting of Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler in the fourth quarter of Monday night's 23-3 Broncos loss in San Diego.

The video has made the rounds of the highlight shows near and far, but after an incomplete pass on fourth down in the fourth quarter, Rivers -- as well as linebackers Shaun Phillips and Matt Wilhelm -- clearly can be seen jawing at Cutler from the San Diego sideline.

But it was the Chargers quarterback who drew the Broncos' ire.

"And I don't really care for the guy, first of all," Bailey said of Rivers on Wednesday. "He's not a respectable guy right now because you talk too much trash and do this and that, but you're really not a great player in this league right now.

"You're surrounded by great players, but you're not a great player. I think he needs to understand where he stands in this league -- where he stands on his team first and foremost."

The incident was a topic of discussion among Broncos players as they gathered after the holiday to begin their workweek leading to Sunday's season finale against the Minnesota Vikings.

Teammates said Cutler certainly was not happy with what was perceived as a breach of etiquette, but publicly he was measured in his response.

"We've talked about it a little bit," Cutler said. "I'm not going to get into it. It's an unfortunate situation. They talk a lot of stuff, it got heated between the two teams. Personally, I don't think the teams like each other, which is fine. It's just going to add to it later next year and the year after that. It should be exciting."

Asked if he had ever done that to another quarterback, Cutler shook his head and said "No."

Rivers said he used no profanity and was only reacting to his defense's play.

"We get a fourth-down stop, Wilhelm and Shaun Phillips, those guys been jawing the whole game with them," Rivers told The San Diego Union-Tribune. "We get a good stop. They are jawing. I'm not anywhere involved. I come out to congratulate them on the stop. I come out to congratulate them, and while I'm out there, yeah, there is some eye contact, but I'm saying 'atta baby' to Matt Wilhelm and Shaun Phillips. Sure, there is eye contact. Maybe there is a smirk. But I am speaking to my guys. That's all that was said.

"I don't think I have to defend myself. I used no profanity, I said nothing personal to anybody on that field. I was out there playing football. We're not in a tennis match. I understand some of the frustration is they've lost four in a row to this team. People don't like losing four in a row."

Rivers also said he was surprised by Bailey's reaction, saying: "He's one guy I've always said we respect him. He's one of the top corners in the league. Out there in the game, I say very little to Champ other than if we do complete one on him -- and you don't go after the guy -- he'll look at me, I'll grin at him like, 'Hey, we got you.' It's always been a very respectful communication between me and him. That surprises me."

Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler said the incident would come up again when the Broncos face the Chargers next season and veteran cornerback Dre Bly added Rivers had not yet "earned the right to do that."

"They've got a lot of classy guys on that team," Bailey said. "He kind of represents the classless guy on that team. He's definitely lost my respect."

Like I just heard on NFL Live, the great QB's in the league never did what Rivers did. His job is to be a leader of the team and take care of the football, not to talk smack at the end of a meaningless game. It should be obvious that Rivers isn't mature enough to handle a situation like a grown man should. He's a punk.

I like this part even better....

In four career starts against the Broncos, Rivers has a 119.8 passer rating, and the Chargers have won all four by an average of 39-13. In those games, he has completed 69.6 of his passes for 960 yards and seven touchdowns with two interceptions.

“I understand some of the frustration is they've lost four in a row to this team,” Rivers said. “People don't like losing four in a row.”

The Chargers dont really bother me. Its like this because of all their years of losing. If we had equivalent talent, we'd be running circles around them. In 2005, San Diego had better talent yet we swept them. Basically, Phillip Rivers is an idiot and its pretty amusing that his own coach called him out by admitting that he scolded Rivers for being a knucklehead.

The sparkies lucked out again and likely get the Browns in Sandy Eggo first. That is a possible game for the sparkies, but there is no hope for them after that. After this weekend, I am looking forward to the continuation of playoff frustrations for the sparkies.

I am not expressing sour grapes here. The Broncos were a lousy team overall and the sparkies take great pride in beating up on a weakened team. BFD. On the whole, Broncos fans are not impressed with a team that has members that display poor sportsmanship or poor professional demeanor, or a team that has not done anything yet, - over two full years - other than beat up on weakened teams. Double for the sparkie fans. Before they thump their little chests, the sparkies need to win at least the Conference Championship. H3ll, one playoff game!

I genuinely believe that the sparkies are the weakest team in the AFC to make the playoffs this year. What is telling is that most sparkie fans are not facing the reality that the window of opportunity is closing on the sparkies. These things tend to go in three year cycles. They will not do well this year - possibly one and done - and next year will be more difficult for them because the talent they have will begin to fade a bit, the possibility of injuries increase, and the other teams in the division get better. Also, some lucky calls may well be reversed next year. They did not fare well against the top teams this year, and that portends failure in the playoffs again.

So, given a reasoned process and description, I just think the sparkie fans are in a delusional state, and will be slinking back to their little holes in two weeks. And I predict that Philip Rivers will have a knee or something hurt by accident rather soon. How's that backup QB?. At least he can keep his mouth shut, eh?....

Can anyone remember another time when a player actually walked onto the field fo play from the sidelines, sans helmet, just to talk trash? THAT is what makes this a big deal.

Everyone knows Denver is a bad team this year. Denver fans knew it early on, though we hoped it would turn around. So, SD, who may have the guy that goes down as the greatest running back ever, beats up on a team with a terrible run defense, and Rivers has to pull that? That is akin to a high school senior QB feeling proud about winning a scrimmage against a 9th grade team and talking smack to them. And a school kid is exactly what he looked like.

Rivers should be thanking God each night that he has LT to carry him:

Cutler 2007:

G Att Comp Pct Att/G ...Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate
15 430 271 63.0 28.7 3,251 7.6 ...216.7 18 4.2 ...14 3.3 68T 40 ...7 ...26 ...141 ...86.5

Rivers 2007:

G Att Comp Pct Att/G ...Yds Avg Yds/G TD TD% Int Int% Lng 20+ 40+ Sck SckY Rate
15 437 264 60.4 29.1 3,017 6.9 ...201.1 19 4.3 ...15 3.4 49T 43 ...4 ...21 ...156 ...81.4

More than just Bronco fans are talking about this, by the way. And, the sad thing, honestly, is that until that game, I had always wanted the Chargers to represent the AFC West if it couldn't be the Broncos. I would NEVER wish for the Raiders or Chiefs to represent...that is what that childish little display did, and I am sure I am not the only one that feels that way.

Charger fans better hope they go far this year, because as I said elsewhere, even Bill Calahan was able to get a good Raiders team to the big show before he destroyed them. Including this years wins, Norv Turner has 43.9% win record in 10 years of coaching...wow!. Oh, and even Rex Grossman, who could never be mistaken as even a good quarterback, was able to get to the Superbowl.

It doesn't happen very often that a QB comes out and paints the target on himself, but Rivers just did.
