Anyone else have this game? It's pretty cool. But my 10 year old is already scoring 100% on expert on drums. Tonight he hit #8 on the global charts. We need to buy him more stuff for the game already. :faint:

OTOH, we put him in band this year on percussion. He says it's so slow and boring he could die. Apparently beginning band doesn't play many Rockband or Beatles songs...

I feel like I am one of the only hardcore gamers that has never played a Guitar Hero or Rock Band before.

I like the rockband better than guitar hero game because it includes some "real" talents like drumming and singing. I mean if someone is good at guitar hero (or the guitars on rockband) it doesn't translate to real life guitars, but if you are good at rockband drums, that CAN translate to real life drums. Also rockband microphones measure your voice tone and notes. It can't make you American Idol worthy, but it can tell you if you have a decent voice and if you hit the right notes.

Rockband 2> Beatles Rockband.

It's not even close. The ONLY thing that's better about the Beatles version is the 4 part vocal harmony.

That and my mom doesn't mind being in the same room while my son is playing.

Well in all honestly it's good to here that your son enjoys it. If he gets to cocky or "bored" get Rockband 2, and have him try to play "Battery" on expert. :heh: That will teach him.

Beatles Rock Band is 20 times better than any other Guitar Hero/Rock Band game. There's good graphics, good songs, an actual storyline, and harmonies.

Seriously.

Same graphics engine, not near the selection of songs. The vocal harmonies are nice, but if you thought the Beatles were overrated, then so is this game. Also, no characters to create, etc. If you love the Beatles, then you'll love this game. If you think the fab 4 are insanely overrated, this game is the same....and holy crap is it easy. This game is almost identical in play to Rockband 2, without the track list, creativity, or difficulty. The vocal harmonies are pretty bad ass, but that only lasts for so long. This should have been released as an expansion, not a stand alone title. Seriously. 45 track. 45 Friggin tracks. Really? My rockband2 has over 300.

Every month or two there seems to be a new Guitar Hero or some kind of expansion. Talk about milking it.

To be fair, this is the 1st "expansion" for Rockband (although it was sold as a stand alone title, why, I have no idea). Guitar hero has gone apeshit, Rockband, not so much. The great thing about Rockband, is if you owned rockband 1, and purchased rockband 2, you had the option of putting all the rockband 1 songs on your hard drive. So, since I owned the original rockband, when I purchased Rockband 2, I (for free mind you), was able to copy all the songs on my rockband 1 disk to my hard drive, I then promptly sold rockband 1 for $30. So, Rockband 2 ended up costing me $30, not $60. I now have over 300 songs to choose from. It's awesome. Beatles Rockband is great if you like the Beatles. Personally, paying $60 for 45 Beatles songs? PASS.

I've been a Beatles fanatic forever, and have raised my kids on the Beatles- so this is a pretty cool piece of history for us.

I must say it's over priced and I really did expect more songs though. That doesn't mean I'm not going to throw more money at it. :tsk: I have to get all the effing songs eventually.

timmy, have you seen anything about that rockband community thing that they're supposedly developing? something along the lines of user created track exchange, hopefully? how sick would that be if they do it right and don't charge an arm and a leg.

I think I read something about that on IGN Shanks.

I've heard some things, but haven't really seen it. Guitar Hero World Tour had something of a track creator, I didn't play with it a whole lot, but what I did didn't I really impress me.

It's hard to say man. If they could actually do it right it would be awesome, but creating true rockband tracks (4 parts, even more if they want to throw in multiple vocal parts, which I think are awesome) would be extremely hard to do right, especially from a user standpoint. That being said, I'd love it. There are several bands (SEETHER!!!...sorry, huge fan) I'd love to see on Rockband. Then again I guess I could be missing the point all together. Say some unsigned no-name band creates a track and it propels them to stardome because it's awesome. Who gets the royalties, etc? I think it's a great idea, and great for the community if they do it right, but it does open a can of worms.

Then again, if I could play a real axe like a I can a plastic one with 5 colored buttons I would be rich and it wouldn't matter. :heh:

They are planning to make all of the songs downloadable last I heard. Creating characters when you're playing as the Beatles as a storyline would be pointless. And it's supposed to be easy, it's not a sit down for hours and try to beat it kind of game. It's something you get with a bunch of friends and get all energetic and happy and what not while you're playing it. It's supposed to be fun, not difficult.

And I didn't buy the instruments, I just bought the game alone. But I do understand why people who don't like the Beatles that much wouldn't like this game.

Which is why I love Rockband. There is really nothing to "beat" in rockband. It's a total party game. Sure you can play solo, but 4 players is the best. My only complaint with the Beatles is only the Beatles songs. Why bother when I have 300+ songs of all sorts of genres ready to go? That being said, I would very much like for Harmonix to put about 4 or 5 (just a personal preference) songs of the Beatles available for download. I'd throw $10 at the right Beatles songs in a heartbeat, the rest, I could care less about.

I just played RockBand for the first time this weekend at a party.

I am now thinking of getting it. Sounds like I should just go with RockBand 2. Which system? Any preference? I could get it for Wii or for my PS3. Any thoughts?

Abby Road just became Available over the weekend. My son woke me up the other day singing Her Majesty. I was all "I know the song, thank you!"

And NTL, we have it on Wii. I don't know if the other systems are cordless, but ours is. Which is nice.

PS3, without a doubt. Rockband 1 on Wii was a joke. It was as shell of the Rockband for 360 and PS3. It was missing several game modes, character creation, etc. Rockband 2 for Wii (thankfully for Wii owners) is an exact replica of the 360 and PS3 version, but with less graphic resolution.

The way to do it NTL is get rockband 1 and 2. (I have a 360, but have heard the PS3 version worked the same way). Just get a used copy of Rockband 1, and a new rockband 2. You can actually copy all the disc songs from Rockband 1 to your hard drive, (there is a code that comes with the rockband 2 disc that allows you to do this, I think it cost like $5 maybe). Then you can just sell Rockband 1 and get the majority of your $ back, but still have all those disk songs to play along with all the songs from Rockband 2. Easily the biggest bang for your buck.

And Guitar Hero isn't worth bothering with right?

And Guitar Hero isn't worth bothering with right?

I liked the old ones, (still use my guitar hero 3 guitar for rockband because I like it better than the rockband guitar), but as for the newer guitar hero's that came with all the instruments like rockband, pass. I haven't played the newest one, but did rent World Tour. It was ok, but nothing close to Rockband, IMHO.

If you like the guitar part of Rockband, then picking up guitar hero 2 or 3 used for around $10 each is worth it.
