ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) ―
The Denver Broncos waived punter Paul Ernster Wednesday after his poor performance during Monday's night's game at San Diego.

Ernster, was signed on Dec. 18 after the team cut Todd Sauerbrun for off-the-field issues.

He had one good punt Monday night that was downed at the San Diego 1-yard line. His other four punts averaged about 30 yards, including a 17-yarder in the first quarter that set up the Chargers' first touchdown drive of the night.

"One little thing and it goes to hell," Ernster said Monday. "It's tough, but it'll make me work harder, because I'm ----ed. Sorry, I'm mad, just like everybody else is. We lost and I had a rough day."

He did get that one put to die at the 1 yard line. Besides that he played about as good as the rest of the guys on the Broncos. (guess someone has to take the rap)

It's hard to believe that every team in the NFL can't find at least 1 good punter. I find it hard to believe that out of the entire population of the world the NFL can't find 32 quality punters to kick the football.... but Denver for some reason is one of those teams that just can't get it right.

Okay, being serious, Denver needs to sign Dirk Johnson. Right now. Played for Northern Colorado. Punted for the Eagles for a couple of seasons before the Eagles went with a Aussie rugby guy.

Dirk Johnson. You heard it here. He is from Montrose.

Cutler already has Rivers attentions, so can we just sign Kelly Croyle to piss off Brodie and Chris Long to piss off Howie Long? That will keep the division rival's strong.

Why couldn't Kody Bliss make it in the NFL? That guy had some monster punts in college. I think he's available right now; they should give him a look.

It's not going to be the last we see of him.

Shanahan has developed this fetish which makes him sign, re-sign, sign, re-sign, sign, re-sign (you get the picture). We will sign him 1,000,000 times next off-season, only to cut him 1,000,001 times.

Chad Mustard is me, CSWIL. ME! That is who I should have been. ME! Or HIM. Now you have me confused. I should have been Chad Mustard. And he could be me. Just for one day. But that day must be a Sunday during the season (not a bye week). I don't want to be him when his wife is nagging him to dust fan blades or take out the trash. Or not during training camp. Or not during film sessions.

Just right before kickoff during a divisional game. That is all I ask. That is what we all should be asking.

I also have a dream I should have been Glenn Martinez or Selvin Young. Well, not Selvin as much anymore.
