Royal’s production consistently unpredictable

Prior to his 10-catch, 90-yard performance in Week Five, many observers were wondering what happened to Eddie Royal. He had only eight catches for 58 yards in four games. Heading into the season, many pegged him as head coach Josh McDaniels' new Wes Welker — an undersized receiver that could wreak havoc in the slot and rack up 100 catches, but sources say McDaniels' offensive philosophy doesn't mesh with those high expectations. The Broncos simply don't pay much attention to who is getting the most touches amongst their receivers. Brandon Marshall is the one exception, as the team wants to make sure he's heavily involved, but Royal, WR Jabar Gaffney and TE Tony Scheffler are each capable of having a zero- or eight-catch day depending on how defenses set up against Denver and whether McDaniels finds a matchup worth exploiting. QB Kyle Orton is going to spread the ball around and take what defenses give him.

There is a reason: McD doesn't play Fantasy Football. He coaches to win games......

I still hope they will be able to get Royal worked into the offense a little more.
