Joe Thomas was named as an alternate to the Pro Bowl. Looks like he might start in the Pro Bowl.

Bills' Peters out for Week 17 in Philly; Pro Bowl in doubt

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills left tackle Jason Peters will miss Buffalo's season finale at Philadelphia on Sunday because of a groin injury that could also keep him from playing in the Pro Bowl in February.

Coach **** Jauron said Monday that Peters will have tests this week to determine the severity of the injury suffered in the second quarter of a 38-21 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday.

"Hopefully, it'll be OK in time and hopefully he'll be able to participate in the Pro Bowl as a healthy tackle," Jauron said. "I'm sure that Jason's excited about playing in the Pro Bowl and will want to play in it. But I'm sure also he'll do the right thing as we move along."

Jauron said Peters had been bothered by a sore groin for several weeks before aggravating it when his right leg slid out from under him while blocking Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora. Peters lay on the field for several minutes before limping off on his own.

He watched from the sideline before being escorted to the Bills locker room with two minutes left in the second quarter. Without Peters, Buffalo allowed three sacks, ending a franchise record-tying string of three games without a sack.

Peters has not missed a start in 40 games since taking over at right tackle midway through the 2005 season.

Joe Thomas has thousand time more responsibility for their success than for instance Derek Anderson.
I would really love for us to get a tackle of his calibre. Look at the Chiefs before or after Roaf, Cleveland with or without Thomas and so on.
I have always though that to get a sound offense, people look to much to skill players.
I think that if you win the trenches battles, almost every qb can pick apart an offense weith enough time.

Just wondering, how'd Levi Brown and Joe Staley turn out? Have they been excellent, or ordinary?

I'm wondering because I don't think the Broncos will get the best offensive tackle in the draft. If the Broncos do decide to get an offensive tackle or guard, how late in the draft can a high potential player be found?

Well, we tried to get our own "Joe Thomas" a few years ago. Didn't exactly pan out, sadly. I do agree that an elite tackle would help Denver's problems considerably, seeing as how a lot of our woes have to do with the lines on both sides of the football.

The Cardinal fans seem to really like the pick they made...he didn't mature as quickly as Joe Thomas seems to have, but I think he'll be good for protecting Leinhart's (sp?) backside once he comes back.

Joe Thomas is an absolute monster. I am not talking about the type of monster that goes "rawr", I am talking about the type of monster that rips crushes cities and rips your head off. The guy has Canton type talent and he can be dominant for YEARS to come.

You know how I feel about prematurely praising people to the point of Canton, but Joe Thomas defnitely has what it takes to be dominant for many years.

I was just talking about the talent level of Canton players. Hell, odds are that he won't make the HOF (just the sheer numbers of it) but as far as talent level I think he does have that ability.

That's good to know. And lately, Kurt Warner's been playing pretty well, and since he's so injury prone, the line must be doing a great job of protecting him.

About Leinart, that's the one thing I don't like about lefty QBs. They change your protection in that usually, the best guy is at left tackle to protect the backside. Now with Warner and Leinart, they need both superior left and right tackles for whoever QB plays. Probably better if both their starter and backup were both lefties.

With lefty QBs, the better tackle plays on the right side.

Sounds like a tough adjustment with respect to the change in perspective, as well as the change in their natural movement. I agree, though, the best player should protect the QB's backside.

I think even with Warner playing, Levi has stayed on the right.

Either way, sorry for jacking your thread Charlie. Joe Thomas is the heat!

Yes, Thomas has been playing great. He's made Anderson look pretty good.

He totally deserves going to the Pro Bowl. That is the best pickup they have made and has really helped their offense progress.

Now we need one like that.
