Everyone seems to be coming together in Bronco land. A 5-0 start will tend to do that. McDaniels has quickly proven that he can walk the walk, despite being younger than some of his players. The Broncos are now the team that is making adjustments DURING the game, and outcoaching the opposing team. The offseason aquisitions that were scoffed at by the so-called experts are proving thier worth, and the culture of the Denver Broncos is quickly changing to that of a tough, smart, well-prepared team that believes they can win against any opponent.

Gone are the days of preparing for a game in the bubble when the weather is going to be bad on Sunday. If the team is going to play in the cold, why not practice in the cold? Gone are the days of club med training camp. If you want a team that hits, and is physical, why not spend training camp in pads hitting and being physical? Gonna play in the throwback uniforms? Well then, why not practice in them at least once? No detail has been overlooked by this new coaching staff.

Looking on the Broncos sidelines during a game, you're bound to see at least one coach teaching the players at any given time. This happens throughout practice and meetings also. Players are taught, not only watched and evaluated now in Denver. Suddenly, the Denver Broncos have become a team
that will come at you in different ways, with different formations, and a different philosiphy on any given play. How do you prepare for the 2009 Broncos? Given their 5-0 record, the answer to that question remains to be solved.

As many are starting to become believers in the new coaching staff, one man was a believer before the success began. One man stepped out on a limb and saw the vision of a 32 year old coach, and took a calculated risk. After firing one of the most respected coaches in the NFL, Pat Bowlen went out in search of a coach that could bring a winning tradition back to Denver. The fans and media overwhelmingly cried out for a defensive guru to be Shanahan's replacement. With a franchise that had given up over 400 points each of the last 2 seasons, it was obvious that the biggest need of this team was on defense. Surely the Broncos would hire a defensive coach, and spend the majority of thier picks in the 2009 draft on defensive players.

Many thought that the reason Bowlen waited so long in the interview process was to bring in much heralded defensive mind Steve Spagnuolo to rebuild this defense and franchise. A funny thing happened on the way to that vision though. Pat Bowlen sat down with a man with a plan. Josh McDaniels had laid out a plan for success. Not only a plan that detailed the Patriots way of doing things, but one with modifications. He had laid out a plan to repair the defense, modify the offense, and build for not only the future, but the present. He had specific coaches in mind to hire as assistants. These coaches, mind you, were not for the most part coaches that McDaniels had coached with. They were coaches that he had coached against.

Pat Bowlen had the intelligence, experience, and moxy to bring in this young man and let him rebuild his billion dollar franchise, with nothing but a vision and plan to see that vision come to fruition. One of the most respected owners in all of sports, stepped out on a limb, took the criticism, and laughter, and stood strong in support of his new young coach. Without wavering, he backed his unproven hire when the franchise quarterback challenged his authority. He backed him when the franchise wide reciever challenged his authority. After 5 games of the 2009 season, no one is questioning the new coaches authority, and no team has beaten the Denver Broncos.

Pat Bowlen, the fans of Denver thank you for your dedication to winning, your fearlessness in following a vision, and your unwavering strength. We hope that you continue to lead this franchise for many years to come, and we salute you. Thank you, Mr. Bowlen. :salute:

Nice Post! I have contended all along that one of the reasons Bowlen went offense is because he already had Nolan on Speed-dial! Josh and Mike have Messed beautifully and I give McD props for bringing tough winning coaches with in somecases Broncos Superbowl Pedigrees. Even Nolan began coaching and made a name Coaching Denver's LBs!
The best managenent advice I ever received: "Hire great people and get out of the way" Lesson well learned Josh, and Mr Bowlen!

Great post Ziggy, and Pat Bowlen deserves much credit. I remember him saying that during the interview with Coach McDaniels, he was so impressed with what Coach McD said in regards to changes needing to be made, etc., etc., and he knew that Coach McD was the coach for the Broncos

Ziggy with the post of the year. Seriously. Give the man a trophy.

I can't really add anything to what he said. Bowlen had a vision, a plan and he acted on it. He brought in a coach that also had a plan for this heralded franchise to bring it back from face palm to fist pump. He got criticized for his decision in hiring inexperienced McDaniels, but Bowlen knew what he wanted. And so far, his risk has paid off. Bowlen is sitting back on his chair, hands behind his head and saying "I told you so."

Here's one big Mile High Salute :salute:
