I might be the only one but I always though rick did a good job of moderating. I think he did a lot of the "dirty work" because the other mods wouldn't. But he was just enforcing the rules, not making them.

I'm researching it now. I want to make sure we keep the fast response the server has, so I need to find out what the implications of bigger avvys are. I know we have a request over in the town hall to allow bigger avvys (KB size) so animated gifs can be used.

That's very valid and true. I just think that sometimes he got so caught up in it that he had blinders on. Not an easy thing to do, but he seems more relaxed as "one of us"

I am 6 feet, but I stopped growing when I was 16. Then I was playing forward and everybody thought I'd be about 6'3''. That still bugs me. I want to be taller than average. Still, I dont use anything to alter my height though.

Hey, just wanted to let you guys know that I signed up and may lurk from time to time, I’m really glad you all found somewhere you can be happy.

Maybe I’m just naïve, or out of the loop (I guess I never quite made it into the ‘Freak’s regular rotation), but I wasn’t sure that there were problems with Canuck and members, but I’m starting to see what the problem is now, and I understand where everyone is coming from.

I think Harkov is working very hard and doing a very good job over there, despite the fact that many people showed up 4 days ago and never came back. There are 3-5 regular posters, and Canuck is not one of them. I feel very bad for Hark and all the seemingly unnoticed work he is doing, and from what I pick up, he’s bearing the brunt of someone else’s mistakes?

So why am I not completely switching to this site? There are 3 reasons, but none of them are a knock on this site, I think tned is doing a great thing.

1) Remember that Broncos History forum I kept talking about on the ‘Freak, but it never happened? Hark, Frau, and I are going to work on a Broncos History Wiki over there, and I will work hard to make it the best place on the web for historical Broncos information.

2) It’s silly, but being a computer scientist, I can really relate to Harkov and the work he is doing, and I feel indebted to help him out with what he is doing, because he has some really good ideas. Especially because it appears this isn’t his fault…

3) I’ve been working on my own football site for the last 2 months, it’s not a forum, but it will be a place where I will spend some time putting my limited football knowledge instead of a forum. If you guys think what I/we have to say, I can post some stuff here, I’ll ask for feedback when I launch the site.

I hope you guys can understand why I may not switch completely over with the rest of you, but I am very happy that this is turning out OK. I will pop in fairly often, and you can send me PMs here or at thebronconation, or you can send me an email or instant message, I’ll be around.

Thanks so much for all the nice invitations from you guys at the ‘Freak. It really means a lot that you wanted me to come over here, as I always felt I was learning from you, not you from me. If I did not reply to your invitation, I was not ignoring it, I was just contemplating things. See you around!

I have question because I don't know the history of the situation. What did Derek do? Was this something that was brewing for a while? Did Harkov do something wrong, or was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time?

I feel like maybe there is more than I am being let on to here, and as I did admit in my first post, for being an admin/owner on the new site, Canuck isn't around and doesn't post much...

The problem with that is that if Derek would have asked all of us, we would have done just about anything to keep the Freak as it was, including financial help.

I posted in here earier today that I feel bad for harkov and all the effort he has put in. I'm afraid that site will turn into a ghost town again, but maybe not.

I'll check in there, to see your work. . .and MB's Blog (right MB?). Hopefully this isn't goodbye. But with all the "Freaks" here, I'll probably be spending more time here.

Don't know about what happened over at the freak...I just thought the dude was having kids and wouldn't have the time.

Know we were referred over to the Nation and Hark was doing a helluva lot of work over there to get it up to speed...

Beyond that, I think a great many of us don't see (or care to see) much beyond that...just a place online to talk with folks about stuff.

John gave Derek a choice to do what he wanted with the Freak. John's intention was for Derek to move the site to a new server and keep all the data in place. Derek, for whatever reason, chose to just move himsef to that board called Bronco nation. So there was never really any intent on Derek's part to go to a new server in my opinion. I'm sure Hark wanted the members on his board, I mean, why not. Only probelm is there is no comparison to this site compared to his. I'm sorry but Hark's board just doesn't have the quality of this type of board here.

I have no hard feelings towards Hark or Derek anymore. It was what it was, a disaster.

John should of approached somebody with a little more time and finances to move the board to an independant server and retain the data. John just made a bad choice and it all went to hell from there.

But today, who cares. This place is great. I like it here just fine.

For instance, in the "thread with no subject", the cameltoe/moose knuckle comments could be a bit offensive for our many women on the board, and maybe not appropriate for the youngsters. I know that you have women on the Freak, and obviously they are ok with it, and I understand the argument that kids know this stuff anyway, but stil...

So, I would say that the only real assimilation or changing that will need to take place is to reign in just a bit the sexual and mispelled curses, as long as they are against the rules, as they currently are. As many of you know, or have heard, we are community driven, which means things like rules are always open for discussion, as we are currently doing in a Town Hall Thread, but until changes are made, it puts our mods in a tough position between letting us just enjoy ourselves and not jump in left and right editing/deleting posts, and at the same time keeping the board "family friendly" which is where we now fall with our rules and the 'spirit' of the rules.
