Those are bad. JEEZ! Thats BAD!
Why couldnt they just let them play in the ol sky blue/orange circa 83 unis?

I mean it seems like every other team just picks what throwback they want to wear, why cant DEN?

Agreed - the 80's Uniform is the best NFL uniform ever, bar none. That 60's mess is flat out awful.

They have to wear it because it was the AFL uniform. The other teams didn't pick theirs, its all AFL uniforms for the AFL anniversary. Plus wasn't the 80's uniform around since the late 60's? I can't remember. Thats still my favorite too.

The Broncos went through as few uniforms in the AFL. The yellow n' Brown Egg Foo Yung looking suits didn't last long at all.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/broncos/2009-07-07-sw-broncos-afl_N.htm

Those first uniforms came from a defunct college bowl game (the Copper Bowl). Rips and tears had to be repaired because there was no way to get more of these dandy duds. The colors were technically "seal brown and gold."

"Mustard yellow would be a more accurate description," says Jim Saccomano, the team's director of public relations, a club employee for 32 years and a lifelong Denver resident who has seen almost every game the Broncos have played.

Denver's second coach, Jack Faulkner, set fire to the old socks at the club's intrasquad game in 1962, with new ownership in place, a little more money available and new colors of orange, blue and white adopted. Yet no one who ever saw the vintage hose will forget them.

The Broncos still have one of their originals at their headquarters in Englewood, Colo. Working from photographs and memories, they've re-created the old uniforms and the leggings for the two games during which they will wear them in 2009.

They'll model the home version Oct. 11 when they play the New England (formerly Boston) Patriots, commemorating the first AFL game, which Denver won. Then they don the road suit a week later on Oct. 19 against the San Diego Chargers.

I'm confused, am I on a football message board or a fashion police board? I get a kick out of all the "OMG those are so ugly" posts. Who cares how ugly they are? It's a piece of Broncos history, like it or not, and I think it's kinda cool that we get to see them go back to their roots for a couple of games this year. It's not like these are becoming the permanent unis, geez!

I detested our new uniforms in 97. My non-Bronco fan friends thought it was pretty funny we were stuck with those Bush League looking things, and I swore the only thing could make me love them would be an immediate Superbowl victory that Season :D I bought a navy blue Golf Shirt with the "Cyberhorse" that year

I still prefer the lighter Blue and Orange 68-96 look, but I forever made my peace with the newfangled things after XXXII and XXXIII

The only thing I liked about the new unis was the darker colors. Still loved the old ones, and didn't think we needed a change at all, but I did appreciate the more intimidating, strong, dark colors.

I will never forget seeing Sportcenter when they introduced them, and had rooked Elway into being one of the models. . . He looked sooo embarrassed.

Now, I love them as much as the older uniforms. . . and so many teams have copied some of the elements. They don't seem busch-league anymore.

Me too. I really fail to understand all the hatred. We have all seen the old orange unis a million times. Everyone knows what they looked like. There probably aren't 5 fans on this board who had ever seen the brown unis before this year and I think it's cool that they are bringing light to that part of Broncos history for a couple of games. Like I said earlier, I thought I was posting on broncosforums, not fashionforums.

Colorful Season At Home
http://blog.denverbroncos.com/jsacco...eason-at-home/

This season is shaping up as the most diversified in terms of uniforms and colors in Denver Broncos history.

Teams are allowed to wear their alternate (third) jersey a max of three times, one in preseason and two in the regular season. That’s good news for Bronco fans who can’t get enough orange, as the locals will wear it three times out of the 10 regular and preseason home games.

But then, in addition to the blue that marks the standard Bronco uniform, Denver will dip back, way back, in time and wear the Broncos’ original 1960 uniform when the Broncos host the Boston (for that game, Boston) Patriots in one of the American Football League matchups this year. That means gold (really, a mustard yellow) home jersey, seal brown pants and helmet, no logo, just a uniform number of the helmet, and of course the legendary, infamous vertically striped gold and brown socks.

The Patriots will also be wearing their 1960’s vintage uniforms as well, featuring their original logo and red, white and blue.

The end zones will boast a 1960’s diamond-look as well, in the opinion of many one of the classiest looking end zone treatments in pro football history.

There will be a few other elements to highlight that rematch of the first game in AFL history, with those details to come out as we get a bit closer to the game.

This will truly be a step back into history at INVESCO Field at Mile High.
