It was a great deal of fun at BM being able to pick the winners of all the NFL games and then crowing weekly and season champion for who picked the most winners.

I am sure you know how it works....pick the winners of this week's games. To break ties, pick the score of the Broncos game.

You must have your scores in before the first kickoff each week, no cheating. The games start this week on Thursday.

(This is an ambitious move on my part trying to run this, so if anyone has any suggestions please tell me. Also I forgot who did this in BM last year, but if you were planning on doing it again this year for this forum, let me know....because you'll probably do it better.)

Instructions: Pick who you think will win this week's games. Include the score of the Broncos Game. You get 1 point for every game that you successfully picked the winner in. Any questions? feel free to ask.
MAKE SURE TO READ THIS POST FIRST BEFORE POSTING YOUR PICKS!!!(Prize info, and more rules): http://broncosforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=641

Deuce ran it over at BM...

I PM'd him asking for guidance on running it..hopefully he responds. He's not doing it over there this year because like most, he's fed up with the board appearance and changes...and plus it got to be too much I guess..

Here's the basic rules of how it was over there...Monday night score prediction was used as tie breaker and Bronco score prediction was used for bonus point..

Summery of rules: (As stated on BM)
Pick the winner of every game.
You will receive 1 point for every correct pick.
MNF score prediction will be used as a tiebreaker.
A bonus point will be awarded for predicting the exact points the Broncos or their rival will score.

Edit: Sneakers I can help you if you need in case it gets to be too much to handle counting up everything. Deuce said he had a spreadsheet that helped him tally everyone's scores. I hope he responds...

Thanks Reid, I am working on getting a post up with the rules right now. I also PMd Deuce this morning.

So, if everyone that has posted can please update their picks with the MNF and Broncos scores it would be good.

We need someone (snk just registered here, so maybe he will do it for us) to make a weekly winner sig.

Also, as a little bonus, BroncosForums.com will give the winner each week a $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com, and the overall winner (winner for the year) will get a $30 Amazon.com gift certificate.

***********Update Please Read Carefully***********

********The details are still in flux, so check back between now and opening kickoff**********

Rules:
Select the winner of every game.
Tiebreaker - Monday Night Football score (if still tied, then Broncos' game score will be applied)
A bonus point will be awarded for predicting the exact points the Broncos or their rival will score.

Complete rules will be posted soon.

*** Very Important ***
You must use this format when posting your picks:
List only the winner of each game.
Keep the order in which the games are listed.
Put the score next to the MNF and the Broncos game only.
Any post or post-edit after the first kickoff will receive an automatic DQF.

The winner each week will win:

An image to put in their sig stating the week they won (Sig creator TBD)
A $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com

The deadline for all 16 games is Thursday 09/06/07 7:00pm CST (6:00pm MT, 5:00pm PCT)

If you missed the Thursday deadline you can still make your picks for all other 15 games prior to Sunday kickoff (9:00am CST)

****Important, if you make your picks OR EDIT your post after the Thursday night game, you will receive no points for that game. If you make your picks or edit your post after 9:00am CST on Sunday (or after kickoff if their is a Saturday game), you will be disqualifed for the week*****

Remember:
Post only your winners.
Keep the games in order!!!
Post score prediction for the Broncos game and the MNF game only!!![/B])

we have 2 monday games which score/s should we put in for

also the tie breaker ???? is it the total points from both teams cuz that would be easier to decide the winner than the scores of both teams

how can ya figure a winner with say the team score if ie san fran 17 ariz 10
you pick san fran 14 ariz 3 and someone else picks san fran 10 ariz 7 who wins ?????

total points for both teams with over bids throw out seems to work better imo

Ok, the first game, as that is more or less the normal MNF time slot.

Plus its a better game IMO but It will be fun to watch the Cards vs 49ers. Watch 2 young offenses go at it.

And Tned I know that you love stats and all that stuff so are you going to do the tallying?? and all that stuff for the pick ems?

Still working on the details, right now I think it will be.

Picking the correct winner + Total score of both teams. So, if SF wins 14-10, and someone picked SF 17-7 and another person picked AZ 10-14, then the person that picked SF to win and got the score right (or closest) wins.

If we have multiple people that tie on the tie breaker, then the same procedure (to break the tie in the first tie breaker) would be used on the scores of the Broncos game. During the Broncos bye, an alternate tie breaking game would be picked.

TBD who will be tallying. I will get with Sneakers and others that have commented and we will come up with a good system.

And maybe we can have tned drop in a lock the thread prior to the start of the Thursday game to prevent edits, etc.

Because some people might not post their original picks until after Thursday, we can't lock the thread. As it stands now, if you edit your post after the Thursday game starts, that pick is disqualified, if you edit it after the Sunday deadline, all picks are disqualified.

As to the Tiebreaker, first MNF game, and if still tied, Bronco game.

Tned, did you understand that spreadsheet from Deuce..?

I kind of have it figured out but are we supposed to input one team from each matchup at the top per week and then the spreadsheet formulas calculate who picked what team and adds the points based off of that...??

If I can get it figured out I will update the spreadsheet.

Yes, you enter in the teams that everyone chose in their row, then along the top row, you put in the team that actually won, and then it 'should' calculate the standings.

Also, when I get back from my trip (tomorrow through Tuesday), I am planning to start work on a web based pool software to use here and at work. hopefully, I will have it where people can put their picks in through it, but at the very minimum, it will allow an interface for the picks to be entered, and then in a real time basis as games are going on/finishing, it will update the standings, so you can track during the course of the weekend.

So, if you and/or Sneakers can get us through the first couple weeks, I plan to have a nice solution in place by week three or four.

Sounds like Reidman has things going...I will message him just to make sure. It would stink if we all thought each other was going to do it, and then no one did

Yea, if you two can work it out, it would be good. You need to either have Top, JR or DN lock this thread tomorrow, or watch very closely at the 'edit' tags to see if anyone edited their picks after tomorrow. one option would be to have them lock this, and then have a 'late' picks for those coming in after the Thursday game. Talk it through and decide how to handle it. I will mostly be out of touch the weekend. I will be on in the morning and late night, but it will be unpredictable.

Just because of the late picks, I don't think we should lock the thread. I would hope most people are honest, so I don't think it will be too hard to watch the edit time and date.

The best way is to have a post roughly 5 minutes before kickoff to remind people and then any picks after kickoff of thurs game, will not include that game but still include Sunday games and the Monday night games. Confused yet...?:ahhhhh:

I'm going to go ahead and start entering names and picks into the spreadsheet tonight.

Edit: If I'm entering the data does that mean I am not allowed to participate..? That's kind of what sneakers was insinuating in his earlier post. I would also like to play....

You could post 5 minutes before tomorrows game as a heads up, say that one can still post their picks after the game started, but just don't pick for that game. or if someone posts later, simply omit their entry for the thursday night game.

I am also doing it for the fun of predicting. Maybe for those of us who said we do not want prizes, if one of us should win, the prizes could go to the person/people running this. I used to run a pool at work way back when, and I can definitely say - IT IS NOT EASY.

Just put my name on the trophy, but keep the other prizes.

But If it is like last year I'm in trouble. I actually missed a couple of weeks.

If I win, I just want some kind of small, avatar sized logo if that's okay; that way, I can keep putting them up in my sig, the way fighter pilots used to put/paint decals on their plane for each kill.
