Anyone hear the wolf howling and 7 days on 104.3? I am seriously so stoked he's gonna be on The Fan. :D His interviews lately and his twitter gametime is pretty damn good.

Yea, I was not happy with the loss of Polumbus or Nick Ferguson. But I guess they had to make some $$$ room for Big O and Wolfe.

With Sandy Clough retiring, I would think he was making the most, so that should have helped with the money situation.

I jump around, but mostly stick with The Fan. I will sometimes listen to Big Al on KOA, but I don't really like the JoJo guy he's with. Sometimes I do listen to Altitude, but not often.

Can we talk about Ben Albright? What is his deal? He is so concerned with being perceived as THE authority on the Broncos. Weird dude. Give me nerdy Andrew Mason where at least I know what I'm getting.

How was he bad? I have mostly stopped listening to 104.3 because I don't commute anymore, but he always seemed to be smart/insightful when I listened to him. I trust your read since they didn't renew his contract.

His chemistry with DMac was awful, and its weird how Dmac grew on my over the years. The host combo I miss most was him and Tom Nalen. Tyler was OK sometimes, but he just never really added much. I unironically liked Cecil Lammey and Nick Ferguson because they are just nerds at heart who love sports lol

The Fan is going through some weird stuff. All the evening programming is gone, and aside from a few shows they are hit or miss these days. Once the Avs and Nuggets start up in full, I listen to 92.5 more so that will help! Looking forward to seeing how Derek Wolfe does. For my hot takes though, nothing beats Brandon Perna and his Thats Good Broncos show on Youtube!

Dude def has an ego doesn't he?
When hes not pushing his highness I like him the best. He has good insight and see the things most closely to how I see them. I like that hes not bias (hes a chefs fan).

That said I love Mason and Cecil and nick Ferguson.
It helps that nick always chats at camp so the personal side is cool.

I never thought polombus was good or insightful much. His online and blocking chatter was good but that's it. None of the other idiots know anything about building or being a leader and you can tell from their perspectives.
Oddly enough dmac gets it. So many times is disagreeing his opinions/takes on what he sees. However, he nails drafting, building a team, time to gel etc.

He is the stereotypical Cherry Creek high school frat boy dufus. Might be bias on my part as I went to a rival high school and I was too dumb to get into CU.

I like Mike and Mark in the AM or even Chad and Nate. Sometimes I’ll listen to Stokley and the other guy while I’m stuck in the carpool line picking up my daughter in the afternoon.

Benjamin Albright knows his stuff he’s definitely on the inside as far as broncos go, dude knows what’s he’s talking about and far from arrogant. Smh he just gets tired of some broncos fans not having a clue what they are talking about the same way I get irritated about it as well.

On September 18, former Denver Bronco-turned-broadcaster Tyler Polumbus announced that his contract hadn't been renewed with sports-radio station 104.3 The Fan, ending his first-rate stint as co-host of weekday afternoon staple The Drive with Best of Denver winner Darren "D-Mac" McKee. Asked for details the next day, a source close to the outlet would only say that management had been presented with "a unique opportunity" to obtain the services of a notable new partner for D-Mac.

During the final hour of The Drive yesterday, October 3, that new co-host was introduced: Derek Wolfe, one of the most outsized personalities on the Broncos squad that won Super Bowl 50. Wolfe is also a fan favorite, and while he spent his last few years on the field as a member of the Baltimore Ravens, he returned to Denver in July to retire as a Bronco.

A lot of people were speculating that he was dismissed because he jacked Stokley's phone on air and guessed the password (1414). It was really funny listening to it. But, that seems unlikely to me.

Not a fan of Ben Allbright for all the reasons you all mentioned.

I listen via podcast since I'm not local, but it's a nice way to avoid commercials. I always listen to Mike and Mark every morning--they are really good. I think Mark has the best takes of anyone on the Fan. But, my favorite guy to listen to is under the radar--Nate Jackson! Chad and Big-O not as good, but I think Nate carries that show. And then Stoke and Zach are good, but they've been irritating me a bit with Zach angry-yelling into the microphone after this bad start to the season. I probably listen to a good 5 hours of the fan each day--not healthy, but enjoyable on my walks to and from work, in my office, and drinking my morning coffee.

Adding Mase was a huge get for them as well.

I'll take ya'll up on Derek Wolff, and give him a shot. After listening to his first show, I was just so unimpressed. He didn't seem to know much about the team or the players on the team. But I'll give him another shot.

This is my exact take. I could maybe forgive his lack of radio knowledge if he had really good takes or was funny or something -- but I think he's just been terrible... He clearly doesn't really understand radio cues and when DMac is trying to tee him up to give a take. He leaves him hanging so often by giving like a one sentence answer, or just giving some non-answer like "that would be a good question for coach."

Which I think he'll get better at - but then his takes are bad on top of that... Doesn't really add any insight or nuance. Kind of like Big Al but maybe worse because he doesn't have any redeeming qualities like being a super homer with a fun laugh.

Yup! Mike and Mark in the morning are the best. Totally agree about Nate Jackson, he plays devil's advocate a lot and has a wry sense of humor and gets Chad Brown and Orlando Franklin to have pretty good conversastions. He had a GREAT book come out a few years ago called Slow Getting Up (https://www.amazon.com/Slow-Getting-Up-Survival-Bottom/dp/0062108034) about his time in the NFL.

Zack and Stockley are hit or miss, but can be entertaining but so far Wolfe has been a dud mostly. I think Buff hit the nail on the head that he doesn't take cues well and still feels like he isn't part of the media but still a player that has to be careful. If he can lose that and learn how to be more open in his takes instead of deferring or not building on his answers he will be fine. I still think Nalen was the best replacement since Big Al left.

Anyhoo, with the Avs and Nuggets starting 92.5 will get more of my sports radio attention.

What's the station number? I'm honestly afraid that my brain may catch on fire if I have to listen to Orlando Franklin any more. I'm sure he's not a bad dude, but good God his takes are just painfully stupid. I had to think of you earlier today, when he said that Billy freakin' Turner was a "legit superstar" in Green Bay. :banghead: Just now he came up with another gem. Said that the league has caught up to Shanahan and Mcvey and their schemes, then in the next breath started talking about how awesome Mike McDaniels is in Miami. You would think a dude who played a decade in the league would have at least some baseline understanding that personnel is more important than scheme or playcalling, but no-- dude is just blithely oblivious. Half the time these clowns don't even know players' names. It kills me that they can be so atrocious at their jobs and still get paid for it.

“Nick Foles is a better QB than Dan Marino” … I am dead seriously. That’s just one example.

I will say this; I do believe that NFL defenses have caught up to all modern offenses, they always do. To a certain extent.

Call it the Fangio defense or whatever but it’s frustrating to **** out of QB’s these days.

Also, they caught up with the outside zone play and the QB waggle off the outside zone. Kyle Shanatan has adjusted by calling more traditional run concepts in recent seasons, inside zones, counters, gaps and traps. More than ever before.

Mixing run concepts is the 2nd biggest reason I am just over Kubiak coached offenses, he’s inflexible and arrogant.

This is also why it’s far more important to draft for talent and not “fits the system” … because outside zone isn’t a “system”. I get it, you like that play but calling the outside zone a system is like calling Jon Gruden’s offense the “Spider-2-Y-Banana system”

Lately I've tuned into 104.3 for some hot takes on the Payton hire and I swear every time I tune in Wolfe is showing up like an hour late, eating food live on air, etc.

I got no love for D-Mac, but hearing him to to pull a thought from that empty bowl of a head Derek has is painful. He will toss the most softball question about a topic to him and it's always **dead air for 20 seconds** "Nah, don't think so." Dead stop. No expanding. No explanation. No anecdotes.

Never thought I'd miss Polumbus. Really wish they could've kept Nalen on somehow that was the best.

Derek Wolfe is a meathead douchebag and he's terrible on the radio.

I have no idea if he is terrible on the radio or not, but my understanding is that mountain lions are becoming a bit like pigs in Texas, that is, overcrowding other wildlife ecosystems and overpopulated, thus the net "moral calculus" or whatever is much less one-sided than Deanna Meyer, executive director for Prairie Protection Colorado, which their landing page indicates is an animal rights activism group, would lead you to believe.

Check out the landing page and tell me that's not a Karen-esque, rabid, PETA type group.

It's a shame this "fact checking" doesn't actually acknowledge how slanted her own agenda is and present both sides of the story.

Buff, I'm cool if you are on the animal rights side of this equation, much respect, but it feels like you were duped by this Karen.

There are about 7,000 mountain lions in CO, and wildlife experts put the "ecosystem balance" number at around 5,000. The overpopulation drives down moose, elk, deer, and other prey populations. This has an overall negative effect on the larger ecosystem, or at least it leads to other problems. 7,000 is also too high for the mountain lions themselves, it's like too many humans on the planet, they run out of food and starve and shit.

So about 150 lions are hunted each year is what I'm told, but the state wants to increase that number to 300 to help with this problem.

Is it a weird moral thing? I guess? To each their own. I'd personally have zero problem with it because I don't think there is any moral ambiguity about hunting a creature you respect and eating it and so on. This is what native peoples did and there's great honor in it, that's my personal view. I'm not a fan of the whole "I hunt giraffes and shit" vibe just because someone wants to kill something. That is icky for me. It might be like that, it's borderline.

For me personally, as long as what Derek did was legal and he ate his kill, I'm not gonna judge based on the opinion piece of an animal rights activist combined with his association with a trophy hunter type guide. I'm not sure what his lie was, but it's douchy to lie. It seemed like his lie was using the pretense of a dog killing mountain lion as his stated justification, which I kinda get as a conversational shortcut.

Trophy hunters are dogshit, I wouldn’t put it past Wolfe to make up a story like this to be able to check something off his bucket list.

I wonder if Rob Walton would be so kind as to take Wolfe on one of his “hunting expeditions” . . .

Funny I just had a conversation with my oldest daughter the other day about hunting. I grew up hunting. I loved hunting. I mean it was one of the things that I got most excited about the fall was my favorite season most of my life because we got out of the heat on the western slope. Football started and then I got to hunt for 3 months.

All that said I don't enjoy killing stuff as much in my old age. I don't have any problem with it morally it just doesn't do anything for me

I'm really torn on lion hunting. The only way that you can typically effectively hunt a lion is with dogs. And that to me has zero sporting component. Growing up on the Western slope with the guys that I grew up with. I know several guys that run lion dogs. And I like them. I've just never found the sport in having a dog chase something up a tree so I could shoot it.

Now all that said there is a huge lion problem. They are as people know attacking humans as we saw with the guy that got attacked by the juvenile lion last year or the year before. There's a lot of concern that it's only a matter of time until they start intentionally preying on people the way leopards do in Africa.

To top it off I as much as I like some of their personalities like mase and Lammey. That whole b******* campaign that they came out with when they started calling themselves Denver sports and basically ripped off the dnvr logo really pisses me off.

Brandon spano and all the guys over there work their butts off to create a brand and 104.3 just blatantly ripped off their name branding and their logo style.

I grew up hunting, my entire extended family did, I just don’t have it in me.

You can’t go swimming through a sharks living room and call it a shark attack. When you go hunting, or hiking, or biking through nature . . . or if you live in mountain lion territory you can’t call it an “attack”, that’s counterintuitive to me, but we say that all the time. Im positive that there are cases of mountain legitimately attacking humans but to call it a “problem” is a poor choice of words.

For the most part; People ****ed around and found out, it’s that simple.

Btw, people only see mountain lions if the lion wants them to, people go through the lions territory oblivious to the lions presence 99% of the time. Oh, the lion knows you’re there, but the point is for every lion “attack” there’s hundreds, if not thousands, of times that a lion had zero interest in attacking a human.

It’s weird to think that we have a different instinct when it comes to snakes; if we get bit by a poisonous snake it’s because we were at fault, not paying attention or just bad luck. But when it’s a shark or mountain lion it’s because these animals are a danger to humans and need to be destroyed.

I have always been fascinated by surfing but never have, and never will, go surfing because I hate sharks. If you feel the same about mountain lions don’t go walking through their fast food drive-thru window.

Overall it's a hatchet job that doesn't present both sides of the story, that's my point. I'm not a fan of one-sided rants that mislead and wanted to call attention to that.

Personally, I think it’s entirely possible that Wolfe made up the “living under a woman’s porch” story to justify checking mountain lion off his bucket list. Both sides of the story have been presented (in that article, no less) so it’s far closer to being “fair criticism” than a “hatchet job”.

This is an insult to dogshit. I have zero problem with shooting something you intend to eat-- but people who kill something just so they can hang its head on their wall are lower than pond scum, and should go directly to hell. Especially if it's a canned hunt, or they're killing an endangered species. You have to be a sociopath to shoot something like a rhino or an elephant.

Whatever his motives with the lion, Wolfe is still utter trash as a radio host. Dude makes Alfred Williams look like a Nobel prize winner.

The DNVR logo is just the Denver flag in black and white with DNVR as the logo type. The new Denver Sports logo is pretty close but I’m not sure they have a case since they are both pretty basic designs. I can see why they are upset though, because they are trying to differentiate themselves from corporate sports media.

The logos in question below:

Testing is very limited. They're only subjected to mandatory testing one time over the off-season. In-season testing is random (at least supposedly) and small in scope. Most guys don't get tested at all during the season, if I understand it properly. Also while it's more fun to imagine him chowing down on handfuls of amanita muscaria (the viking berserker mushroom), he's talking about a micro dose. Not sure that's even enough to show up in a test. And FTR, people working corporate office jobs have been saying for years that micro dosing LSD increases their productivity. There are even therapists using it to treat depression. It's different world these days.

104.3 The Fan in Denver on Tuesday announced a shakeup to its lineup to make way for a new show with hometown star, former Denver Bronco and Pro Bowl running back Phillip Lindsay. “The Drive with Zach Bye and Denver, Colorado’s own Phillip Lindsay'' will take over the weekday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m time period starting on Wednesday.

Lindsay, who most recently played for the XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons was born in Denver, grew up in Aurora and was team captain at the University of Colorado where he stood out as the Buff’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards and yards from scrimmage.

“I can’t put into words how thrilled I am to team up with Zach and begin my new career in this city that means absolutely everything to me,” said Lindsay in a news release. “I know what it means to be from Denver, I’ve lived here my entire life. This is my city. This is my home. I’m going to give it everything I’ve got, just like I did every time I stepped on the field here.”

I have to wonder if Dmac left or was booted at this point given how he was treated since Big Al left? Its been a string of co-hosts that felt like they were desperately trying to force chemistry. The biggest mistake they made was giving Wolfe the Drive without any experience. Felt like the last couple weeks they were auditioning Nate Jackson or even Knowshon Moreno to take over at DMacs side but NOPE! Just promote Zack and give it to *checks notes* Philip Lindsay? To be perfectly honest my interest in the Broncos is waining heavily. 7 years of bad football will do that to you. Starting this season 0-2 after two home games has pretty much killed this season anyways.

I’ll listen when I’m in the car but that isn’t much really. I put on the fan when I’m sitting in the car waiting to pick up my lift girl in the afternoon which is only Monday and Tuesday.

Wow Dmac gonzo! He was good with Big Al, Nalen, and Polumbus. Whoever the hell this Raj guy is, isn't doing a very good job. Splitting up Zach and Stoke? Maybe Zach and Phil will be great together?

War Zach Bye
War Nate Jackson

Oren was the dude's name I think. Before Big Al. I actually enjoyed that show the most of any of them, including Zach & Stoke.

Breaking up Brandon and Zack is dumb, and love him or hate him Dmac is a sports media institution. Maybe it'll work, I have no idea. All I know is I am probably moving over to Altitude more and more. The Fan is a mess. Will miss Players Club too.

Dmac is the reason I stopped listening to the Fan, he's impossible to take seriously, he's only notable for being the one asking the douchiest questions.

Wow - Dmac out.

https://twitter.com/DMacRadio/status/1703830124012138696

Denver sports radio veteran Darren McKee, widely recognized as DMac, is set to join KSE Radio Ventures’ Altitude Sports Radio 92.5 (KKSE). DMac will join the new midday show P.H.D., alongside Scott Hastings and Tyler Polumbus.

DMac comes to KKSE after being let go from Bonneville Denver’s 104.3 The Fan (KKFN) in a September lineup revamp. He boasts 36 years of broadcasting experience, with 24 years of that spent in Colorado.

McKee remarked, “I’m so excited to be joining a station that has a long history of covering all the region’s sports teams. With Altitude Radio being the Official Home of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids, and Colorado Mammoth I’ll have an opportunity to cover championship teams at the top of their games. Just like all Denver fans, I couldn’t be more excited by the prospects of this season.”

DMac is a Denver fixture. Feels like a mistake.

And by “fixture” you mean biggest knows-dik-about-absolutely-nothing ******* douche bag that literally gets his ass kicked by every co-host he’s ever paired with?

This explains everything.

Dmac is annoying for 1000 reasons, neither of which are "knows absolutely nothing" and "gets his ass kicked by his co-hosts". At least Zach Bye was fine, I personally miss Nate Kreckman -- not sure what the appeal is of Dover yet?

Back in the day, Kreckman and Tim Neverett got me hooked on Sport Talk Radio.

I went to Dover and Stokley because Dmac went to Hastings and Polumbus.

Dmac is a disc jockey, how he ever landed a gig doing sports is laughable, he knows nothing and every co-host he’s had has humiliated him in front of Denver at least a dozen times. Big Al had to be separated from Dmac, so it’s even gotten physical. Coaches hate him, players hate him, his co-workers hate him, and it’s not because he’s good at his job . . . he’s a ******* BAG!

Speaking of know-nothing-BAGS in sports talk; Kyle Brant was on Manning Cast for the end of the game last night . . . his reaction was priceless.

That’s now my favorite win since SB50.
