Time to start a yearly MLB thread.
So far this season I've watched all or part of every Rockies game, or listened to the radio broadcast. I've also watched a few other games as well and I've seen an interesting trend, maybe it's just me but it seems like a lot more swing on 3-0 pitches. Maybe there's a cybermetric reason why, ie. best pitch to hit in any at bat a lot of times is 3-0.
Anyway, this can be the all MLB musings thread for 2022.

The Blue Jays are what the Padres are trying to be.
NLW is loaded.
Judge is playing a dangerous game with his contract.

Trout is a badass. You can't deny it any more Kinger, Trout is generational.

He's the modern day Mickey Mantle. I just don't like it when athletes choose being 'loyal to the soil' over winning. Maybe he didn't see it that way because he believed in the team. I dunno; you gotta remember that I'm a mean and unhappy person, Chazoe.

I'd absolutely love to see the Yankees get outbid for Judge's services. That would be like "man bites dog". Even better if it were the Mets that signed him. That would cause an epic meltdown. Or the Red Sox, but I'd like it to be the Mets even more.

As a kid I was a Yankees fan. This was before the Rox even existed. My mom's maiden name was Mattingly and I was a big Donny Baseball fan. I love DJ Lemahieu an unhealthy amount and I have a ton of respect for Judge and Stanton, those two dudes are so fun to watch. But holy shit a bunch of Yankees fans came across like absolute shit-heels the other day.

Sullies the whole thing, unfortunately.

I say replace the outfield seats in Yankee Stadium with steel cages, fitting for the animals that sit there.

If the Dodgers don't do well, I hope the Mets do.

I think it's a very real possibility that a MLB player punches Angel Hernandez in the face this season. I'm not saying that's a good thing, I'm just saying.

It's long overdue and well deserved.

Why do you think he is the way that he is?

He's dumb, that's the first thing. He's just the worst. Without getting too political I'll just say he's a great example of one fundamental problem with unions.

There are some who speculate he's getting worse on purpose, out of revenge.

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/New-York-Yankees-sign-stealing-2015-2016-fine-17125599.php
Letter from Manfraud to the Yankees in 2017 found them electronically stealing signs in 2015 and 2016, fined $100K for it. The letter unsealed today after a judge decided to release it to the public and the Yankees appealed twice to keep it sealed, claiming the contents of the letter would damage the franchise's reputation.
Now, the common denominator between the 2015-16 Yankees and the 2017 Astros was the one player actually named in the Manfraud findings against the Astros, Carlos Beltran. Several Astros claimed the team started stealing signs after Beltran sauntered into their clubhouse bragging that they would "never be winners" as long as they were "light years behind" in sign-stealing like his old teams did. This was the guy Houston signed to bring "veteran leadership" to the team and he's urging them to cheat. After A.J. Hinch refused to participate, Beltran turned to Alex Cora (then the Houston bench coach but manager in Boston in 2018) who helped to set up the now-disgraced trash can system.
The Yankees were not punished heavily because Manfraud had yet to make it explicit policy not to use technology to steal signs so he gave the Yankees a slap on the wrist. But since the policy was explicit by the time the Astros were said to be cheating (GM Jeff Luhnow says he didn't see the new policy), the Astros were hit much harder.
Fun fact: Yankees have won their own division just ONCE since 2012 (that was in 2019).
No way around it, this is cool -- need more signature closer entrances...

If I was Aaron Judge, I would bunt the ball once just to shock everyone. LoL.

Can't wait to see how the Dodgers **** this up. If we win the World Series we're clearly the greatest team of all-time. At least in a competitive era. So probably won't even make it to the WS.
