Pretty clear that the defense has been way overhyped and the offense probably should have more reps during the preseason to work out the issues that plauged them all game long.

This team will never have heart with a QB like that.

whoever redid that contract should definitely be fired.

To put this all on Flacco is pure silly

He actually played better than the last what, 4 QBs?

The whole offense failed in so many ways

The Defense? Hello.

He can only do so much there are 11 other guys. Leary was a total liability and once Wilkinson came in it was a struggle up front.

Hamilton's drop?

Scangarello learning in the job? Ridiculous play calling? Special teams is all on Flacco too I guess.

All Flaccos fault.

I said this this morning. And everybody knows I'm not a huge Joe flacco fan. but he was not the problem last night. You got a rookie offensive coordinator you've got a rookie defensive coordinator essentially. You got a head coach who's never been a head coach and he was always coach from the booth. There's a lot of learning going on. I think when you look at their resumes and the discipline and structure that they have in place. That this stuff will get worked out. But it may not be early this season if at all.

I’m not sure Falco has noticed or not but the Denver Broncos couldn’t care less about Barf Tebow intangibles.

Players play ... owners own ... cheerleaders cheer.

It’s science.

But you can already see more disciplined. No turnovers, and 6 penalties in the first game of the season. With Ron Leary having two of those. That shows discipline

Agreed, the rookie TE had a rough game too.

I like where they are, it was always gonna be ugly early.

like I said scangarello wasn't calling plays with the niners. So there's a huge difference between scheming and actually calling plays in live-action. Then you have Donatello who hasn't been a defensive coordinator forever. and you got fangio who's used to being up in the box and thinking small picture only on defense. The way they've tightened things up shows me that they're going to be a good team within a few years. Especially if we get more influx of young talent.

I think they should hire a DB’s coach so Donatello is in both.

The contract is not a big deal. They just cleared up some cap space. It doesn't mean that Joe Flacco is going to be the Qb for the next 3 years.

Oh, Elway would like that. That's his Plan A. But, if the team goes 5-11 or something like that? There's no way he can just trot out Joe Flacco year after year and expect Broncos Country to just tolerate that crap.

"We're the new Cleveland Browns! We suck for 4 years in a row and don't care!"

They'll be burning Elway in effigy by next season if that's the case. And that means 20,000 no shows for home games, a big dip in leasing those luxury box suites. A big hit to revenues. They can't afford that.

If they want they could eat the cap hit for next season, or even pay Joe Flacco $20m to be a backup. That's not a lot of money for QBs in a league where actually GOOD QBs are now getting $30m a year or more.

Well they are going to need a SERIOUS influx of new talent.

Elway has sucked at the draft for years now. That's why the team is so depleted of talent.

2014:
Bradley Roby 1st round, Michael Schofield 2nd round, Cody Latimer, 3rd round

2015:
Shane Ray, Ty Sambrailo, Jeff Heuerman

2016:
Paxton Lynch, Adam Gotsis, Justin Simmons

2017:
Garrett Bolles, Demarcus Walker, Carlos Henderson

That's pretty bad.

I don't argue with you as much as a lot of guys on here. But you're conveniently leaving out the fact that several of those guys are very solid starters now as in gotsis and Simmons. Demarcus Walker looks like he's finally turning the corner into a solid rotational player. and the biggest flaw and what you're showing is that the past two drafts have objectively then very successful. Last year's draft produced for starters this year's draft has produced a bunch of very solid rotational players.

I don't think we're talent deficient on defense or offense. I think we're maybe a little thin at depth. We're somewhere in the middle. Good post.

Bradley Roby looked like a good pick until they cut him. But, when they tried to promote him to #2 CB he flopped bad.

DeMarcus Walker has had zero impact so far. He's not starting and is a bust for a 2nd rounder.

Gotsis is usable. But, are they going to extend him next year when his contract expires? No, they'll be looking to upgrade.

Justin Simmons might be a success. So far it looks like it.

But, beware of judging success by whether guys are starting or not. The team has to make use of the players they've drafted if that is at all possible. They have a draft pick and some money tied up in the player and have to get some kind of value back if they can.

Where the rubber really meets the road is whether the player is good enough to offer an extended contract after his rookie deal expires.

And Gotsis and DeMarcus Walker are pretty marginal players who will not be extended when their contracts expire.

I.e. bust and bust. Not a "complete waste of time" like Carlos Henderson, but not really good starter material let alone star athlete.

I was listening to a group of former players talking about the Broncos yesterday on the radio and they were all saying that the Broncos were one of the bottom 5 teams in the NFL in terms of overall player talent on the roster.

Hard to argue with that really. Outside of a few stars like Chubb, Miller, Harris and Sanders it's a desert of talent. Flacco is barely mediocre if that, the OL is just ter-bysmal. Garrett Bolles is a total bust and just got 5 holding calls in the last game, they haven't got any significant threat outside Sanders on offense.

The defense was supposed to be elite, but has given up the winning drive in the last 2 games. Just inexplicable breakdowns in coverage when they have teams backed up in third and long -- still can't get off the field.

Lindsay and Freeman combined for under 100 yards and Flacco threw 1 TD for 1 INT. They can make all the excuses they want but this is a bad football team devoid of talent compared with other teams.

If you disagree just wait a few weeks until this team is 1-4 or 0-5 or something. :coffee:

Joe Flacco, after quitting on the team, should never take another snap in a Broncos uniform.

If you are too much of a ***** to audible into the plays to counter what the D is doing. Goodbye.

Seeing you chuck the ball 20 yds downfield outta bounds, is the most spineless shit i have ever seen.

Joe flacco is the protagonist Martel from the movie The Replacements. This is why Shane Footsteps Falco replaced him.
