The NFL is doing their schedule release tomorrow night, 4/17 at 8:00 ET (6:00 local time). I'll post any rumors here and update when it's official. As a reminder, this is who we are playing this year

Edit: rumor from a user on Reddit. Hard to verify but it looks like he got last year right when he posted about a few games. I’m putting it here and will edit if necessary:

Week 1 at Raiders (MNF)
Week 2 vs Bears
Week 3 at Packers
Week 4 vs Jaguars
Week 5 at Chargers
Week 6 vs Titans
Week 7 vs Chiefs (TNF)
Week 8 at Colts
Week 9 vs Browns
Week 10 Bye
Week 11 at Vikings
Week 12 at Bills
Week 13 vs Chargers
Week 14 at Texans
Week 15 at Chiefs
Week 16 vs Lions
Week 17 vs Raiders

I don't see that many easy games. Chargers, Chiefs, Browns, Bears will be tough games. This seems like a pretty darn tough schedule overall.

Near 100,000 seating capacity - I'd guess the revenue from that makes up for not being at home...

Especially if it's the Chargers giving up a home game.

I meant more in competitive terms than financial. Those 3 divisional home games are crucial for your eventual standing at the end of the year.

Ah - I get your point now. True - considering it's a divisional game, you want every advantage possible.

Although the Chargers attendance levels sucked last year (worst in the league at an average of just over 32k), so... If they're the ones giving up a home game, it might make sense. The Mexican people would probably relate more to a California team than one from Kansas City.

If it even happens. The field conditions there were so awful last year they couldn't even play the game. Had to be played in the States.

I will for sure be at the Houston/Denver game. Davii, you better be too. Bring the wife and the four of us can go together. Y'all can stay with us.

That week 16 game against the Lions ... according to the NFL master schedule, they're going with a triple header that Saturday (12/21). Early afternoon, late afternoon and night. There are five games that are possible for those three spots and ours is one of them. The other games will be shifted to Sunday.

I'm hoping for one of the Saturday slots. We only get two primetime games (including that awful week one MNF) and if you're not local, there's not a whole of times we'd be on TV.

Weather could be factor in the Buffalo and KC games, otherwise meh, it’s not that big of a deal. That point in the season gets impacted by injuries which could impact either or both teams.

Well 4 road games in a 5 game stretch in September and October is not ideal - my main point is that home field advantage is a factor in football regardless of timing - and the chance for the team dealing with cumulative injuries goes up as the season goes on. Though you are correct that injuries and weather are unknowable variables at this stage that could affect either or both.

East coast early games worry me more than weather. Denver has a history of sucking for east coast early games and they rarely do well in KC in December.

That's because when we do lose with a early start time it seems to usually be because we got our asses handed to us. We didn't ever get blown out on the road last year. Our worst road loss was to Baltimore in week 2 by 13, but that game was a lot closer than that for most of the game. The year before we had a couple of ugly 1pm losses, but we also lost 4 games by double digits that were either at night or late afternoon. When we suck we suck, there isn't much difference in when the game is. Same for when we're good.

I don't know - but it is interesting how our perception is shaped by narratives like this.

I remember sucking on the east coast more than not - usually because i build up the east coast games all week as i get to watch them at a sensible time, then i always seem to end up feeling like that my excitement was wasted as we usually lose.

i have no stats to back it, just my subjective experience

I think people overestimate the average head coach. If this staff is better than the last, I'll be glad for it. But I honestly would say they are the same, maybe worse with the unknown at OC. Fangio and Donatello are superior defensive coaches. It could be outstanding. VJ gets shit on too much.

Week 8 at Colts

Week 10 Bye
Week 11 at Vikings
Week 12 at Bills
Week 13 vs Chargers
Week 14 at Texans
Week 15 at Chiefs

W-Week 1 at Raiders - 1-0
L-Week 2 vs Bears = 1-1
L-Week 3 at Packers = 1-2
W-Week 4 vs Jaguars = 2-2
L-Week 5 at Chargers =2-3

Week 10 Bye
L-Week 11 at Vikings = 4-6
W-Week 12 at Bills = 5-6
W- Week 13 vs Chargers = 6-6
L-Week 14 at Texans = 6-7
L-Week 15 at Chiefs = 6-8
W-Week 16 vs Lions = 7-8
W-Week 17 vs Raiders =8-8

You can change some of these games around if you like, but basically it looks like 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7. No playoffs.

W- Week 13 vs Chargers = 6-6
L-Week 14 at Texans = 6-7
L-Week 15 at Chiefs = 6-8
W-Week 16 vs Lions = 7-8
W-Week 17 vs Raiders =8-8

You can change some of these games around if you like, but basically it looks like 7-9, 8-8, or 9-7. No playoffs.

No way Fangs loses home opener to his former team. Theyre gonna walk into a bandsaw

I think people overestimate the average head coach. If this staff is better than the last, I'll be glad for it. But I honestly would say they are the same, maybe worse with the unknown at OC. Fangio and Donatello are superior defensive coaches. It could be outstanding. VJ gets shit on too much. I don't think he was headed down the Belichek road though... No, he was decent. @me if you have to

I disagree. There is no such thing as shitting on VJ too much. He went into the interview, got all buddy-buddy with Elway, and Elway thought "cool, I can be the one running the show as puppet master" ala Jerry Jones with Jason Garrett. Elway found out real quick that football doesn't work that way, and went back to a Dan Reeves/John Fox type personality.

The entirety of Vance Joseph's tenure here was one massive mistake, and his incompetence was completely indefensible.

It cannot be stressed enough how low VJ dragged the team down.

Not sure!! If I take the Tuesday off I will stay up, but if I need to be in work I will probably go to bed really early and get up.

Those were some of the longest days on deployment. Get up at 2am to prepare for a 3am Bronco game, convoy brief at 7am, leave the wire at 8am, get back when we get back...

Long days, but still made you feel more normal getting to watch a game.

I think this completely mistakes the whole Vance era. Vance was completely inexperienced as Head Coach. Elway knew that, but thought he was "ready" to step into the head coaching job. Only he had 1 year of experience as Miami DC and they weren't very good in his tenure either.

So, whose fault was it in picking VJ in the first place? It's not as if there were all these other teams beating down the door to hire him.

Here was a perfect example of a GM talking himself into a hire before interviewing other candidates. They had tried to hire Vance years ago as DC, but were blocked by the Bengals, so when the head coaching position became vacant, Elway already had in mind hiring Joseph.

Then Kyle Shanahan came in and had the best interview, but Elway had already decided who he wanted. He tried to do it again after 1 year. The Vance Joseph hire was turning out to be a disaster, so he talked with Shanahan and decided to bring Mike back to coach the Broncos. Joe Ellis instantly vetoed that move and told Elway that he would have to conduct a full coaching interview process with multiple candidates and go step by step in choosing a next head coach.

Elway wanted to just make a snap decision, hire someone, and not have anybody question it. So, in what can perhaps be described as a snit, he decided not to fire Joseph after all. Instead, they would keep him for 1 more year, because that way he wouldn't have to go through the tedious process of interviewing and hiring another head coach and getting Ellis' approval for it.

That turned out to be a further disaster, so here we are. Elway went out and picked the most experienced coach he could find. He followed the script Joe Ellis insisted upon of having a normal coaching vacancy search and hiring process.

It's when Elway makes these snap decisions by gut instinct or something that he goes wildly off the rails.

Vance wasn't any good. But, what was the reason to hire him in the first place? It's not like his resume was so awesome that a team should have hired him in the first place! What exactly did VJ ever do in his entire career that was so impressive?

You have to lay this on the feet of Elway 100%. First he insisted on hiring Joseph, and then refused to fire him because Joe Ellis vetoed his first choice, Mike Shanahan, whom Elway wanted to hire without even conducting any other interviews.

The Elway decision not to fire Vance Joseph after year 1 is like a man who decides to get divorced. The marriage has been a 1 year disaster. It's beyond clear that he never should have married this woman in the first place. It's been brick-bats flying from day 1.

But, now after talking with a divorce lawyer he's having second thoughts. Divorce is going to be messy and expensive and time consuming. And now he's been told that he can't just file the paper-work to divorce one wife and at the same time marry another woman.

It's going to be this long bureaucratic process. He's gotta get a court order first and can't just dump one, grab another by the hand and marry her immediately.

So, instead of saying "well, I'm going to have to do this sometime, might as well get it over with." He tries to patch up the marriage. Because divorce is just too much effort.

It doesn't take long in the second year before the stupidity of that decision becomes apparent. The marriage isn't working out any better in year 2. Ultimately, he just decides to get through the Christmas holiday and then file the divorce after New Years.

He has wasted an entire year in this process.

You're barking up the wrong tree...Elway wanted to fire him in year 1. He wasn't allowed to by Ellis...Perhaps give Ellis a try and run your blame game program a second time.

So in that case, elway either want strong enough or choose to keep him.

I am a big Elway apologist. But VJ sure looks to be all on him.
