Both actor Luke Perry and the singer from The Prodigy pass away today. Both were pretty young at 49 and 52 years old.

Crazy, too young for sure on both of them. I'm sure they both had their demons but 50ish is way too young to be passing away, especially from a massive stroke.

This is especially true the closer I PERSONALLY get to 50ish.

Had the same conversation earlier. I'm not too far from 52 and I already pause any time I feel a tweak in my left arm. Scary shit

You aren't kidding! I always did before, but since I actually HAD a heart attack... man... if I have a TINY pain near my chest I'm symptom hunting!

For left arm tweaks, make sure the upper arm isn't constrained in some way (tight clothing, sleeping on that side, etc.) and also check your potassium level (eat a banana). Folks with prior heart ailments should also take a children's aspirin (81 mg) once a day.

Had a co-worker years ago who, after a spike of celebrity deaths, quoted his grandmother who said "People are dying these days that have never died before!"

I do regular calcium scoring tests and my last one came back as an 88. It's based on a maximum score of 400 and basically means that I am at a low risk of any cardiac issues for the next 5 years provided I get regular exercise and eat smart. But that doesn't stop me from worrying.
And I agree. A lot of times I'll get a tweak or pain in my arm and it's mostly related to a pinched nerve I have in my neck due to a bad disk, or the rotator cuff tear I have in my left shoulder. Plus...I know that most heart attach cases don't even begin with that symptom. But despite all that, try convincing the anxiety portion of your brain to think otherwise.
All the males on my dad's side kick the bucket around 55-60. The men on my mom's side have some pretty awful hereditary health issues. I'm hoping to bite the bullet around 60. Good lord long lives are often sad, miserable, and pain-riddled.

My son was just home, and I kept thinking.....”man, I wish I was 20 yrs old again”. He’s so focused on the future, and doesn’t realize what he has in the present. Though, there is a good balance.
I need to stop cooking all the foods I love;). Probably switch over to Michelob Ultra.

Turns out I don't even know who Luke Perry is. I had Matthew Perry in my head. False alarm.

Prostate cancer is one of the ones they seem to treat pretty well, even the aggressive ones. Hopefully Vic makes a full and speedy recovery! One of my favorite sports personalities. The year we replayed the Ravens (the 7 TD Manning game) there were Flacco and Manning banners all over 16th Street Mall. On my daily walk I ran into Vic putting mustaches on the Flacco ones. I guess someone had filmed him doing it a bit earlier for a gag on his sportscast, but he continued to do it of his own desire which I admired. He stopped and chatted with me for a bit before moving on like a gypsy in the night.

I hope Vic had robotic assisted prostatectomy. Much better patient outcomes.

It was terrible, obviously - but a lot of dudes (myself included) saw episodes because that's what the girlfriend needed to watch.

Plus, it was a really popular show and based on that alone, the characters were pretty famous. I mean...I absolutely detested Seinfeld and to date might have watched a total of 3 episodes...but it was popular enough that I know who all the characters and actors were.

Yeah, I never watched 90210 but I know who some of the characters are and get the gist of it. It's like a high school soap opera, no?

Don't plan Waffle House for early morning though, he sleeps in. Plan a burger and beer at a bar as it's a better time and he'll make you feel confident in any bar fight.

I would deserve that treatment.
As a defense, which is poor, I'll admit: One of my best friends since 4th grade lives in Dallas. One time we were going to grab a beer he was supposed to be out of town, but ended up picking me up at the airport. The other time I was at a conference where all our days and evenings were planned out.
I still feel bad about both times.

It's really no big deal. I know shit happens. I rarely get time to meet up with people when I'm in Denver, so I don't ever mention I'll be there because I know my schedule will be crazy.
