The Broncos’ playoff hopes are on the line when they host Cleveland (Saturday at 6:20 p.m.) Here is a Week 15 whip-around:

Pressing question. Can Broncos running back Phillip Lindsay reach the 1,000-yard mark with games to spare?

Lindsay has 967 rushing yards (168 carries-5.8 average-nine touchdowns). He was bottled up by San Francisco’s defensive line last week, carrying 14 times for 30 yards. It was his lowest total since 18 yards (on four carries) against the Rams in Week 6.

As a veteran NFL agent, Mike McCartney knew he shouldn’t sign a 5-foot-8, 185-pound running back. But in the end, he couldn’t help himself.

McCartney, director of football at Priority Sports & Entertainment, agreed to represent Colorado’s Phillip Lindsay earlier this year, but he couldn’t get him an invite to the NFL Combine. He did get him into the East-West Shrine Game, though, where Lindsay led all running backs with 51 yards.

McCartney pleaded Lindsay’s case to player personnel executives throughout the NFL.

“All I ever heard was, ‘Oh, Mike, he’s a really good football player, but he’s too small. He’s too small,’” he said.

DENVER -- An undrafted Colorado Buffalo turned top running back is the success story of Phillip Lindsay.

Lindsay is currently among the league's best in rushing this season. He leads the Broncos in that category.

The Denver native says he got his toughness from his sisters. Before football, Lindsay could be found rooting on his sisters from the sidelines or in a gym.

“We always looked up to them,” Lindsay said.

I think he's only 130 yards from the UDFA record as well.

And only 130 pounds away from weighing 250 pounds.

Wonder how many if they had him featured from day 1 when he was clearly the best already.

If Chubb can break the rookie sack record and Lindsay get about 1200 yards then that will be great. We need to nail another draft.

Sure hope it involves a legitimate QB otherwise we're just wild card fodder.

With teams stacking the box, and zero respect for Keenum, those will be some tough yards for Lindsay to get.

We’d have at least one guy in the backfield who isn’t dumber than a bag of hammers.

He’s one of the 2-3 best backs in the league, but he’s not worth the $$ he wants.

Denver has one of the 2-3 worst offenses in the league and plenty of cap space.

Great, then spend $30 million on a quarterback because if we add another back teams will just stack the box and we won’t be able to punish them.

I agree with this.

But, it would be kind of fun, though.

We had a chance to do that, but opted to keep VJ (Keenum reportedly didn't want to play for him) and take on some pretty bad players.

No worries.

It’s Denver, they only overpay for backups.

Broncos would just sign some 4.8 stiff and then just tell fans he’s just as good as Bell.

Cousins with 70% completion, just under 4k passing yards, 26 TDs, 10 picks.

Keenum with...Keenum things.

What is your point? That Cousins was always seen as the better QB? That's why he's earning an ave. of $28 million and Keenum is earning $19m/ year.

The Broncos tried to land Cousins. He was totally uninterested in the Broncos. He signed with the Vikings without even bothering to talk with the Broncos. Denver was not one of the teams he wanted to play for. We didn't make the cut - for reasons that must be totally obvious to everybody starting with Vance Joseph being the coach and Bill Musgrave the OC.

Can anybody doubt that Cousins made the right choice in choosing MN over Denver now that the entire coaching staff is about to get fired?

Hope Lindsay can do it but no defense fears Keenum and Musgrave is incapable of scheming a game plan that will prevent teams for stacking the box. Even just 33 yards will be challenging for this team at this stage.
