LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4) – Some of the top Denver Broncos players put down their helmets and picked up a shopping cart Monday evening to help a special group of kids go Christmas shopping.

“Just to do something like this is a blessing,” Broncos safety Will Parks said.

They are going to have to re-negotiate his contract. He's just ridiculously underpaid. If he signs a new 4 year deal at season's end the team could at least reward him reasonably. Otherwise I would hold out and demand a trade, if I were him.

2018 Contract details by year Age:24 Base Salary: $480,000 Bonus: $5,000 Total: $485,000 Guaranteed: $15,000 $495,000($495,000)
2019 Contract details by year 25 $570,000 $5,000 $575,000 $10,000 $570,000($1,065,000)
2020 Contract details by year 26 $660,000 $5,000 $665,000 $5,000 $660,000($1,725,000)

They really should reward him with a new contract if they are going to start him.

I believe he’ll be a RFA once his contract is up, if he got just the 3 year deal he won’t accru enough seasons to be unrestricted.

So he’ll be under team control for another 3 years.

The Oakland Raiders are signing veteran running back C.J. Anderson, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Anderson has been looking for work since Nov. 12, when he was released by the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina had signed Anderson to a one-year, $1.75 million deal during the offseason, but with Christian McCaffrey seeing most of the volume in the team's backfield, Anderson managed only 104 yards on 24 carries in nine games.

In the span of four days, the Broncos might have two of their biggest playmakers on defense AND offense — Chris Harris Jr. and Emmanuel Sanders — just as they enter a critical stretch to try to make the playoffs.

Sanders has not had an MRI yet.

Sanders seemed to know it was bad immediately. Threw his helmet off as coaches walked over to him on the ground.

If tests confirm the torn Achilles, that's a tremendous blow to the offense and to Sanders. He has one year left on his deal, salary not guaranteed.

I suppose it depends. Its not bad in terms of a guy on the downside of his career but considering what we were paying him im not sure that is that type of money if you know what i mean. The 2 TD's came in one game so outside of that he hasnt really been a huge factor for them. But for Houston im sure he is good enough to compliment Hopkins who is there #1 guy.

People get hurt in football and we were thin when we traded DT because we only had a bunch of youngsters. We knew that when we made the trade. People at the time were fine with it because we thought we were out of it.

It's on the GM to look at all possibilities. I would rather have DT for the playoff push, especially now, than a fourth rounder.

I don't disagree, but honestly, he's due $12M next season and we save $10M by cutting him. How Hamilton, Patrick and Sutton perform over the next couple weeks could determine if he's even on the roster. Sucks to say that, but with an injury like that at his age, it is unfortunately likely that we've seen his final game in orange and blue last week.

I think it's best for all involved that DT is gone. I love the dude, but I think he was part of the problem with this offense. I know you want to believe he'd be a big impact to us now, but he's not the DT he once was. He doesn't have the speed and agility he once did and he was never a strong route runner. We have a WR exactly like him on the roster named sutton. Him and Sutton lining up across from each other isn't going to benefit us, we need that strong route runner like Sanders was. He wasn't a good route runner, he was by no means an awful route runner, but running routes wasn't his bread and butter. He got most of his production of slant routes, screens, ect... That's not a knock on DT, it's who he was. He didn't make his money based on route running ability and saying he wasn't a strong route runner isn't saying he's always out of place, ect... He made his money based on his ability to take a short route route and make big YAC or run a go route. He burned people with speed, not an ability to quickly cut on a route and gain separation from the defender. Guys like Sanders, Stokely, Welker, Fitzgerald, they run crisp clean routes and get their separation based on their route running (though Manny also has some speed too which is nice)

I think you misunderstand me if you think that's a knock on DT, he's a different style of receiver than Sanders, that doesn't make him a lesser receiver, it's just a different playstyle.

Al Wilson 4 Mayor
12-06-2018, 11:41 AM
I don’t think you’re knocking on DT. I just think you’re wrong. You’re the only person I’ve ever heard say that.

That's silly, having young receivers doesn't mean you're thin at receiver, inexperienced yes, but not thin. You were one of the people who was fine with it.

Thomas is a strong route runner. He would have never become Manning's favorite target if didn't know how to run routes.

Both you fellas are missing what I'm saying. DT's game was always physical. It wasn't route technique that made him a great target, it was his physical prowess. His ability to quickly outrun defenders, to catch a short route and make defenders miss. It had nothing to do with his ability to run his routes in a way that gave him separation.

I'm not saying he didn't know how to run a route, i'm saying his route running techniques were never his strong suit, that's not his style. He's a deep threat/speed receiver. Sanders is more of a possession/slot style receiver. He doesn't have the big physical prowess that DT does (being 5'11) his strengths are running sharp, crisp routes and beating people by running the route better than the defender.

Saying DT isn't a strong route runner isn't saying he can't run a route well, it's saying that's not the style of WR he fits into. Yes, he can run routes well enough to be where he needs to be and to have proper timing, but he's not going to beat someone based on route running alone, he beats them due to size/speed.

Sanders is very much a finesse player who thrives on strong technique to get open, that's not DT and that's fine, you need both type of WR. But DT isn't the type of WR that can replace the production of Sanders, he can't do what Sanders does, Sutton and DT have the same build, Hamilton and Sanders likewise have a similar build and playstyle.
