ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — On the heels of his best game as a pro, Phillip Lindsay has again been nominated for the NFL’s rookie of the week award and for FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week.

Lindsay shattered his previous single-game rushing total as he carried the ball 19 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Denver’s 24-10 win over the Bengals.

The undrafted rookie scored the Broncos’ first touchdown — which put them up 7-0 late in the first half — and then broke the game open with a 65-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Broncos rookie running back Phillip Lindsay joined CBS4 sports anchor Michael Spencer at the ViewHouse Centennial on Monday.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) – Phillip Lindsay, who was an undrafted rookie, is currently fourth in the NFL in rushing yards with 937 and leads the league with 6.1 yards per attempt.

“I have a lot of goals,” said Lindsay when asked about his rookie campaign. “… but the biggest one was just to try and make the team,” he said of his goals following the draft.

Well, he wasn't wrong. Normally, an undrafted FA rookie has "slim to none" chance of making the team. Nobody else in the NFL was interested much in him. But, the Broncos scouted him and thought he was worth a shot, especially after they released CJ Anderson.

Well, now he's proving himself a star RB in the NFL and there are a lot of scouts with "some splainin' to do."
