Broncos promote Temarrick Hemingway to active roster, place Jeff Heuerman on injured reserve, sign three to practice squad


ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — In the wake of Jeff Heuerman’s season-ending injury suffered during Sunday’s win over the Steelers, the Broncos signed TE Temarrick Hemingway to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced.

Hemingway, a third-year player, spent his first two years in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, appearing in eight games in 2016. In 11 preseason games, Hemingway has 10 receptions for 93 yards. The Broncos signed him to the practice squad on Oct. 10.

He had 78 yards against the Chargers the week before, including the final 30 yard catch that setup the game winning kick. Last week was rough, but in fairness Keenum only threw it 28 times (his 2nd lowest total all year), and he seemed to concentrate on Sanders who wanted to stick it to his old team.

Yeah Sutton needs to step up big time. I wouldn’t be surprised if they double team Sanders. This will put all of the pressure on the rookie. If Sutton can start making some explosive plays this will open things up even more for Sanders. We need these rookie WRs more than ever since both of our starting TEs are done for the year.

I have not seen the rookies getting much separation on their routes. Could be the reason for sanders getting 15 targets and the others only get a handful combined.

When they traded DT, he lost the complete freedom of movement he had with the bracketing over the top of Thomas and the best corner on Sanders. Now he’s seeing some of the best corner on the opposite team and more even coverage across the board because there’s simply one less weapon. That’s why things opened up for LaCosse last week, too. He’s a rookie. He’ll figure it out, he’s shown the skills needed to do it.

Broncos to hold tryouts for 20-30 players the next two Tuesdays for future considerations. QB Nathan Peterman is part of that group (1st @RyanTalbotBills). Broncos usually sign 5-6 to following year's 90-man. Shelby Harris, Tim Patrick are "future" success stories. #9sports
