Vance Joseph on starting RB Royce Freeman: "He can carry the load as far as a physical standpoint and mental standpoint. ... He's shown the IQ and maturity to be a great pass-pro guy."

There will be packages for Phillip Lindsay, Joseph said.

Vance Joseph said he wants to see growth from Carlos Henderson off the field, as he returns to the team on practice squad: "I want him to grow up and be a pro. If he does that he'll be fine."

Vance Joseph: "Paxton's gone, so that story is gone with him. We have a big game on Sunday. We have three quarterbacks in our house that we feel good about. But Paxton, that's gone. That story should be gone with him. I wish him well. He deserves that."

Joseph: Cravens “played really well … I was hoping the knee would respond the right way so he could play (against Seattle).” Will have a knee scope. Hope to have him back in two months.

Our third down back is the least dynamic running back of the three. Why not just stick Janovich back there on third?

Two things:

1.) Janovich can't do this. Let's just pump the brakes on deciding that Booker is a problem.

2.) You're just trolling me by picking this thread to bring up the debate we were already having in the other one. But I ain't scurred, I'll dominate both threads if I have to.

I don't think Booker is a problem. I think he'll be a fine backup to Royce Freeman, who I think has break out star type potential. It's more about having Phillip Lindsay sitting on the bench on third down, when he's clearly the most dynamic of the three. That says to me that within the scheme they're worried only about blocking. Who's the better blocker? Probably the fullback. And I think Janovich has shown he can be a pass catcher too, but I don't think they're thinking much about pass catching from the backfield on third down. I hope I'm pleasantly surprised.

I was responding to a tweet in the OP that indicated Booker would be the third down back, you narcissist.

I'm sure Lindsay will get some touches - and I'm happy to trade a little productivity for better pass protection. I'm not sure there is a problem here yet... Other than you being obsessed with and trolling me.

Fully agreed, they just need to unleash the beast on third downs.

Check out the pass reception at 50 second mark.

It might actually be entertaining watching him chip edge rushers.

He's still in the Shire bro. Just because he came to see Gandalf's fireworks don't mean he's headed for Mordor.

The guy hasn't practiced with the team. He's an all-pro player, but he's not going to play like all-pro right away. He's basically got 2-3 days of practice between now and our game. I don't know how big of an impact this will play this week. It's more a pain in the butt for whoever they play in weeks 2-3.

Moving to Kansas City is really going to suck when it comes to getting football games this year...

I don’t know if he’ll even play in the game. The ‘Hawks might hold him out of the game regardless if he thinks he’s ready.

I got a majority of Broncos games when I lived there. Chiefs typically play at noon; this will probably be only one of two games they play at 3. Plus, that’s a great city.

Cowboys offered up a 2nd rounder and the Seagulls didn't take it. Sounds like a fair offer for a guy on the downside of his career.

Another big thing I noticed at today's press conference when asked about pad day:

Pads on Thursday. Idea behind that is, Wednesday, most guys are still sore. So, our big day is going to be Thursday. Inside run, 1st 2nd 3rd down, a little red zone. So, Thursdays for pads.

I got all hype for today thinking "Oh, it's Wednesday bout to win another practice," but it turns out Thursday is the new Wednesday, so really I gotta be hype for Thursdays this year. I am so excited for Thursday practices this year.

I've got a way to watch the game (I can use my phone a as a wifi Hotspot and watch on the laptop) but I actually think I'll be going to lunch with my potential employer around that time so. I don't have dvr this year line I had in past years.

From Legwold on Twitter:

The Broncos likely closed out their week of practice before the regular-season opener as healthy as they'll be all season. Every player on the roster participated fully in Friday's practice. “We’re very lucky,’’ said Broncos coach Vance Joseph. “ … To be totally healthy Week 1, that’s definitely a good deal.’’

Despite only being with the team since Aug. 26 the Broncos believe Adam Jones has made enough progress in the last two weeks he could play on defense when they'd like him to in Sunday's season opener against Seattle. After Friday's practice Broncos coach Vance Joseph said Jones' history in the team's defensive scheme -- Joseph was Jones' position coach in Cincinnati for two seasons and Jones also played in Dallas' defense in 2008 when Wade Phillips was the Cowboys' coach -- “so, he’s been coached in this system.’’ Jones figures to return punts and could be used in some situational work on defense.
