View Full Version : Report: Saquan Barkleys agent doesn't want him going to the Browns
DenBronx

The Browns don’t exactly have a great track record of developing the players they choose in the NFL draft, and the people around one of this year’s top prospects would prefer for him not to be next.
That’s the word from a Sports Illustrated profile of Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, which says that although Barkley is ready to compete wherever he goes, his agents would much rather see Barkley go second overall to the Giants than first overall to the Browns.
“His Roc Nation handlers, however, don’t want him to be taken No. 1,” Ben Baskin writes in SI. “They don’t want him in Cleveland. They want him to go second to the Giants and play in the media capital of the world. That’s where you can become the Face of the League. His manager even implored him to pull an Eli Manning and demand that the Browns not draft him. Barkley never considered the option.”

The city of Cleveland has a bad rap. It's not a terrible, or even bad city. It's actually a pretty nice place.
Now, it you were talking a decade or more ago, you'd have a point. I'd rather live in Cleveland as opposed to St. Louis, Detroit, Chicago, etc.

Chicago vs Cleveland? Man...Cleveland is a dump and Chicago is a pretty awesome city. Cleveland actually spiraled into financial distress after LBJ left. Their economic growth tanked and turned into economic loss.

That said...cost of living, traffic, ease of navigation in addition to an underrated sports and theater scene are the factors that would make me pick Cleveland. Oh...and it's not the murder capital of the US.
You won't be living in the parts of Chicago that are unsafe. Cleveland's sports are as follows: an NBA team that's not long for this world; a nice baseball team; a horrible NFL franchise; testicles.
I everyone to leave Cleveland. It's cursed land.

Beautiful stadiums and arena. Great concert scene, House of Blues, R&Rhof, nice playhouse.
All things Chicago has...without paying a toll for every 3 miles I drive...or a ridiculous rush hour the likes I've never seen aside from NYC. It may even be worse since the lake cuts off 1 direction of travel and NY subways are more heavily utilized.
Add Cedar Point...the best amusement park in the country right down the road...for ME...gimme Cleveland.

It's the most well rounded State imo. Mountains, beaches, weather, things to do, eating (it's got everything) ...really I think the list is endless. But you're right, the cost of living is the highest in the nation. It's extremely overpopulated except if you live in the valley or wherever.
I'm thinking about moving to Colfax ( In between Sac and Lake Tahoe) area or even Close to Santa Cruz near the Redwoods. The trees are absolutely amazing! Beautiful bike trails if you like mountain biking or hiking.

Depends on the metric used. I don't want to live in either one, personally. When I lived in California my total tax burden was close to 50%, my electric bills were 400$ or more, my water bill was 200$ a month my property taxes were double what I pay now and the house there was valued 100k less!
All that and the education system there is falling apart, there's more traffic than Denver could imagine (greater Los Angeles area for sure) quality of life falling off, property crimes etc. are rising astronomically, and so on.
California isn't what it was when I grew up out there and I'm not getting political, I'm talking hard facts, cost of living, tax burden, etc.
San Diego is a gorgeous city outside of that and the actual landscape California sucks ********.

One state functions and the other state is in massive debt, is ugly, and boring while the other one is gorgeous. Their education system is middle of the pack and you can expect some of those things to occur in Denver regarding traffic increase, crime, etc.
Granted the shitty Illinois weather right now might be making me romanticize California right now. :D

You're right, California is 26th in education, but first in money spent per student. Kansas is 21st in education. One state has 1.3 trillion in debt while having among the highest tax burdens in the nation, the other is named Kansas.
If you like California go ahead and move there, enjoy paying 400$ a year to register a truck, paying more for gas than almost anywhere else, etc.
We can continue in P&R if you want to go into more detail but trust me, California isn't all that. And I'm a native.

California is trending up, and high populace states tend to have to pay more per student. One state just slashed all the taxes into the ground and became one of the worst states in the nation, and is struggling to recover.
I know the details just fine, and I don't think California is some paradise, but it is a good state. It makes me sad that so many people write it off because they (not you) think the state is ran by some extreme loons when in reality a lot of those policies are far more sound and factually based than what those people would know. It's okay, I live in an area that's the exact opposite of California, that gets subsidized by a city that they compare to California.
Also, per my agreement with the mod team, I'm not to go back to P and R. So I will respectfully bow out of this part of the conversation and not take you up on that offer.

Those that are complaining about California do it for 2 reasons.
1. They can't afford it. Simply put, you get what you pay for. Prime property and weather will cost you. I live near the Bay area, weather here is great year round.
2. They don't like California politics. I can't argue with this but I'm not jumping ship to go live in some awful God forsaken swamp in the south or the ice ages up North, NO THANK YOU!

1st— SaGone Barkley RB; 2nd best player dropped to 5 and I struggled with him and Nerd Nelson.
2nd— Equanimeous St. Brown WR; I love this dude and Hoof doesn’t, it’s science.
3rd— Billy Price C; He was ranked 88th on this board, lol, steal.
3rd— Kemoko Turah OLB; Need edge rushers, this is where I’d start considering trading for an interior pass rusher in the name of David Irving.
3rd— Mike White QB; I could elaborate on the need but there’s a wicked case of butthurt going around. The arm talent is there, my favorite of the 2nd tier QB’s and this is a good slot for a spread project. He’s had good coaching though.
4th— Oren Burks ILB; He’s an OLB but youd’ think He could make the transition to ILB, personally, I’d move Marshalll back to his SB50 position and start this kid right away. Because Todd Davis. Btw, I’ll be hitting this position again.
4th— Will Richardson RG; He’s listed as a T but this is a candidate to move inside even though he’s got OT arm length. He’s starter potential.
4th— Holton Hill CB; Fanspeak lists S as a current need, if you say so but I ignored it, Tarvarius Moore would’ve been the pick here if the pick was a S. Hill has 2nd round talent, at minimum, but he’s had some issues. My favorite kind of draft pick.
4th— Desmond Harrison LT; Another talented prospect with the idiot gene, this dude is needing additional weight but that’s it. Although, opponents talent level is also an obvious red flag. Future starter at LT.
5th— Ian Thomas TE; At this spot he’d be considered a sleeper but I doubt he lasts this long, Durham Smythe is the TE is Thomas wasn’t there.
5th— Tre’Quan Smith WR; Clearly WR is a huge need imo and this dude has measurables.
6th— J.C Jackson CB; Yet another talent with off-field issues, I’m going full regard up in this bitch. John Elway approves (re, Raheem Brock).
7th— Peter Kalambayi ILB; I’d like to buy a vowel, Pat, an “A”. He’s mostly played OLB in Stanford’s 3-4 but he’s super smart, big, fast, team captain ... and not white.

I like it.

Love me some Mike White. Best part is his experience. He has experience in 3 systems. UCF pro, than they got new coach. He later transferred and in another spread/pro hybrid at WKU.

Accuracy accuracy accuracy... cant stress it enough. But there are other intangibles with the QB's coming out and why i would be more than happy with Rudolph in the 2nd round or so if Denver still wants to take a QB.

Traded down with Bills and still got Barkley, lol, it’s about this time that even the most optimistic draftnik has to admit Fanspeak is nothing more than a video game.

i thought it was fun to play around with, but yea, it didn't feel very realistic. . . what big boards and team priorities do you set it to?

I do multiple ones a week with different scenarios, usually NFL Draft Scout, Matt Miller, Fanspeak, Optimum Scouting, Walter. Joe Everett’s board was pretty realistic.
I usually do Fanspeak or User Voted priorities.
